Communications Manager, Security & Network Transformation Program

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Information Technology Services is seeking a Communications Manager, Security & Network Transformation Program with an exceptional commitment to service excellence to join the Security & Network Transformation Program team, collaborating with diverse and talented team members to modernize and elevate UCLA's Information Security and Network standards, practices, and technologies.


The Communications Manager, Security & Network Transformation is an integral member of the UCLA Security & Network Transformation team and will play a pivotal role in developing and executing a comprehensive communication strategy and plan that aligns with the goals of the overall program and supports engagement with a diverse group of stakeholders.


You will be responsible for creating clear and compelling messages to engage internal and external stakeholders, championing internal communications efforts, collaborating with the OCM Director to develop communications strategies, and ensuring a seamless flow of information throughout the transformation journey.


The Communications Manager, Security & Network Transformation will support the program lifecycle with primary responsibility around developing communication strategies and plans to enable the goals of the Security and Network Transformation program.


The Communications Manager, Security & Network Transformation ensures timely delivery of all communications and oversees the quality of all content developed for internal and external stakeholder messaging Responsible for development and execution of a communication strategy and plan; lead internal communication planning efforts for University wide communication campaigns to support the Security & Network Transformation program; develop comprehensive strategies for stakeholder events encompassing logistical planning, content development and leadership of meetings and/or group events and campaigns; collaborate with Organizational Change Management team to develop program image, brand, and voice; support leaders and communications team members in delivering effective messages through strong writing and storytelling; create Communications Workstream plan inclusive of identifying key campaigns, activities, deliverables, interdependencies, and durations; Support change leader network communications; tailor communications to specific audiences in organization; identify appropriate communications channels; establish feedback mechanisms to assess success of communication strategies; implement and maintain processes for monitoring project inbox, Slack channel, and other communications channels with stakeholders; support process improvement efforts within the OCM team and across the UCLA Security & Network Transformation team; and supervise a team of communications professionals to deliver high­ quality, engaging and informative communications.


Qualifications


  • Five years of experience working in one or more of the following fields: communications, media, public relations, organizational change management, journalism, information technology, or related field. (Required)
  • Significant experience working in a project-based environment using leading project management practices including schedule management, status reporting, and communication of project risks and issues. (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience building and managing exceptional relationships at all levels including senior stakeholders to achieve results in line with strategic goals. (Required)Experience supporting customer needs and articulating a strategy that motivates others to action. (Required)
  • Experience in complex higher education environments, serving academic and administrative functions of a large public university. (Preferred)
  • Proven expertise in strategic communications methods and standards within a large-scale enterprise. (Required)
  • Strong understanding of information technology concepts and terminologies; knowledge of IT security and network transformation concepts. (Required)
  • Proven ability to guide execution of communication content to consistently optimize messaging, enhance program goals, and adhere to established standards. (Required)
  • Exceptional general communication skills including writing, copyediting, presentation, and session facilitation. (Required)
  • Advanced project management skills with demonstrated experience delegating responsibility, tracking project progress, supervising others, and advising teams on competing priorities. (Required)
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate collaborators in the execution of multiple and interdependent deliverables. (Required)
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills including copyediting. (Required)
  • Ability to synthesize complex materials and craft creative, persuasive messaging for a variety of audiences including the presentation of technical topics to general audiences. (Required)
  • Ability to manage necessary resources to resolve problems in a timely and effective manner. (Required)
  • Skill and experience to effectively utilize common office productivity software such as MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), MS Outlook, and internet browsers. (Required)
