Role Overview

We are looking for a dynamic Senior People Operations Generalist to lead our Human Resources functions, serving as an HR Department of One partnering with a network of external resources. In this role, you will manage various HR responsibilities, ensuring a focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB). You will also oversee our HR systems, including Paylocity, Greenhouse, and Ethena. Additionally, you will serve as an internal champion and power user of Wonderlic Select and Wonderlic Develop for our own People Ops practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Onboarding:
    • Manage full-cycle recruiting from job posting to onboarding, following research-backed selection processes and the Uniform Guidelines on Employee Selection, with an emphasis on DEIB.
    • Collaborate with managers and internal I-O experts to understand the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other attributes for openings.
    • Partner with external recruiting firms to ensure roles are filled quickly with the right candidates.
    • Conduct interviews, background checks, and facilitate the hiring of qualified candidates.
    • Serve as an internal champion and power user of Wonderlic Select, leveraging its insights both to make stronger internal talent selection decisions and to foster broader organizational understanding of its use and value.
  • Employee Relations & Compliance:
    • Serve as the point of contact and independently handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, including complex and/or sensitive matters.
    • Ensure the organization’s HR policies and procedures comply with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
    • Partner with external legal counsel to ensure policy and process alignment with evolving legal landscape, to prepare employment agreements, and to support immigration needs (TN, H-1B, and PERM).
    • Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.
    • Lead investigations.
    • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings and terminations.
  • Employee Engagement & Listening:
    • Develop and implement employee engagement strategies to enhance workplace culture and employee satisfaction.
    • Conduct regular employee surveys and listening sessions to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement.
    • Analyze engagement data to inform People Ops strategies and initiatives.
    • Promote open communication and foster a supportive work environment.
  • Compensation & Benefits:
    • Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, leave, retirement plans, and other perks.
    • Lead benefits enrollment including the annual open enrollment process.
    • Work closely with insurance broker and Accounting to ensure employee benefits changes are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Conduct salary surveys and benchmarking to ensure competitive and fair compensation practices.
  • Performance Management & Development:
    • Develop and manage performance appraisal systems.
    • Support career development and succession planning.
    • Coordinate training and development initiatives, including mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
    • Serve as an internal champion and power user of Wonderlic Develop, leveraging its use both for internal employee development and to foster broader organizational understanding of its use and value.
  • HRIS Management:
    • Maintain and update the organization's HRIS and talent management systems.
    • Generate employee information change paperwork (including, but not limited to, offer letters and new hire documentation, termination documentation, promotion and position change documentation), providing employee information change paperwork to Accounting in a timely and accurate manner to ensure efficient and effective payroll processing.
    • Use HRIS (e.g., Paylocity) for tracking employee information and generating reports.
  • Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB):
    • Implement DEIB initiatives and ensure all HR practices promote an inclusive environment.
    • Track and analyze diversity metrics.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
    • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, employment law.
    • Align HR strategy with organizational goals.
    • Participate in strategic planning sessions and providing HR insights.
Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of experience in progressive People Operations, with at least 2 years as an HR Department of One or in a similarly autonomous role in a remote environment.
  • Experience with full-cycle recruiting, employee relations, and managing compensation.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with benefit management including Annual Open Enrollment.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable workplace.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Experience with Industrial-Organizational Psychology and with using talent assessments is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Wonderlic Select and Wonderlic Develop is a bonus.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and related software.
  • Knowledge of and ability to maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment-related laws and regulations.
  • A proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively with diverse, remote teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fully remote, flexible work environment.


Compensation:

  • $70,000-$95,000 based on experience and expertise.
