Job Summary: Private Equity, VP - Power


The Vice President (VP) of Investments will be a key leader responsible for overseeing and managing the investment strategy and portfolio within the power sector. This role requires a deep understanding of the energy and natural resources industries, strong financial acumen, and the ability to identify, evaluate, and execute investment opportunities that align with the company's strategic objectives. The VP will work closely with senior leadership and other departments to ensure that investments are optimized for risk and return, and that they contribute to the long-term growth and sustainability of the company.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and execute investment strategies for the power sector that align with the company’s overall goals.
  • Lead the identification, evaluation, and execution of investment opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to inform investment decisions.


Portfolio Management:

  • Oversee and manage the company’s investment portfolio within the designated sectors, ensuring optimal performance and alignment with risk tolerance.
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews and adjustments to maintain alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze the performance of investments, providing detailed reports and recommendations to senior management.


Due Diligence and Analysis:

  • Lead due diligence processes for potential investments, including financial modeling, risk assessment, and valuation.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to conduct thorough market analysis and feasibility studies.
  • Prepare and present investment proposals to the executive team and board of directors.


Risk Management:

  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with investments in the power, power generation, nuclear, and mining sectors.
  • Develop and implement risk management frameworks and strategies that align with the company’s overall risk appetite.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, industry standards, and internal policies.


Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor a team of investment professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members in their professional development and day-to-day responsibilities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, including investment banks, industry experts, and legal advisors.


Qualifications:


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field is required.
  • MBA, CFA, or other relevant advanced degrees or certifications are strongly preferred.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in investment management, with a strong focus within the power sector.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and executing large-scale investments, including M&A, in the relevant sectors.
  • Experience in managing and leading a team of investment professionals.


Skills:

  • Deep understanding of the energy and natural resources sectors, with specific expertise in power.
  • Strong financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information to a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
