Summary:

Makom is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to support and empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve the quality of life to which they aspire. The Director of Human Resources (HR) strategizes, plans, directs, coordinates, and implements HR initiatives to support the organization’s mission and business objectives. The Director of HR is a member of the organization’s Leadership and is responsible for leading HR staff, collaborating with Leadership colleagues, and empowering Makom staff across the agency to create, deliver, evolve HR functions and lead initiatives that not only align with our mission and business objectives but also elevate Makom as the best place to work.

Description:

The principal function of the Director of HR is talent management. This strategy imperative is supported by ongoing operational priorities that are standard human resources functions—from record keeping to ongoing monitoring of and compliance with shifting HR-related and training regulations and laws. The Director of HR leads a team of HR professionals, and through department resources runs several functions such as employee relations, broker and benefit stewardship, policy development, performance management, compensation/remuneration, and more.

Given the nature of this position, it is a full-time office-based position; however, there is flexibility that could allow for episodic off-site work.

Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field, Master’s degree preferred. Minimum 10 years of direct, professional human resources or related experience.
