We are currently on the hunt for an experienced and dynamic Permanent Controller with a focus on Multifamily Property Accounting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, and budgeting activities for a portfolio of multifamily properties. This exciting role is at the heart of our finance industry operations and is perfect for a proactive, detail-oriented, and strategic professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

As a Permanent Controller, your primary responsibilities will include

• Overseeing all accounting operations for a portfolio of multifamily properties, including AP, AR, GL, cost accounting, inventory accounting, and revenue recognition.
• Coordinating and directing the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts, and report variances.
• Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements.
• Ensuring quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
• Developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Managing and complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Coordinating the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit.
• Liaising with the management team to make informed economic and business decisions.
• Monitoring debt levels and compliance with debt covenants.
• Working closely with property managers and corporate management to provide financial insight and recommendations.
  
  

Qualifications

The perfect candidate for the Permanent Controller - Multifamily Property Accounting role will possess the following qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. An MBA or CPA qualification is highly desirable.
• A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably within the finance industry, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Proven experience in managing accounting functions for multifamily properties.
• Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures, including AP, AR, and GL.
• Experience with creating financial statements and financial reporting.
• Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and lead a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with various stakeholders.
• A proactive approach, with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment and make critical decisions under pressure.
