Senior Director, Merchandising Strategy

Brief Description

The Senior Director, Merchandising Strategy role involves strategic leadership of the Pricing, eCommerce Merchandising, and Monetization functions at FreshDirect. The Senior Director, Merchandising Strategy reports to the SVP, Merchandising, and works closely with them to drive the achievement of strategic department initiatives, roll out process improvements, and develop tools and training to more effectively empower the Merchandising team. Responsibilities include providing inspirational leadership, developing long-term business plans and action strategies, and setting financial goals for profitable growth. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive business initiatives and optimize results. The Senior Director, Merchandising Strategy will work closely with the Category Management and Merchandising Operations teams to find new ways for us to win. The ideal candidate has demonstrated success within a merchandising function, including setting and executing large-scale strategic initiatives, finding new and innovative ways to drive topline growth, finding opportunities for operational efficiency, and building strong relationships with cross-functional partners.

Essential Functions:

• Owns and sets strategy for Pricing, eCommerce Merchandising, and Monetization teams.
• In partnership with SVP, Merchandising, develop long-term strategies to drive profitable growth, open up new revenue streams, and drive improvements in ways-of-working within the Merchandising team.
• Create goals that achieve financial objectives and support the strategic visions of the department(s) and organization.
• Leads Training & Development function within Merchandising team, responsible for building programming aimed at strengthening our team.
• Cross-functionally support and represent Merchandising as needed by the business.
• Manage, evaluate, mentor, train and develop team to make decisions within their scope of responsibility
• Collaborate and work cross functionally with various teams in order to effectively drive and execute business initiatives.
• Develop and execute strategic projects required to identify synergies, drive growth, maximize resources, ensure consumer focus and capitalize on market opportunities.
• Provide inspirational leadership to guide merchandising teams toward operational excellence.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• Excellent oral and written communication skills including presentation skills
• Analytically-minded with strong organizational skills
• Excellent attention to detail and exceptional follow-through
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly in Excel
• Significant project management experience, and an ability to manage projects with high visibility to completion
• Demonstrated success developing and building strong teams
• 10-15 years’ experience in Grocery Retail, eCommerce, or related industry
