Position Summary:

The Human Resources Director will lead, develop, and manage the policies, activities, and teams within the Human Resources and Payroll departments, ensuring legal compliance and driving internal development.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee daily operations of the HR and Payroll departments, including direct and indirect reports. Provide mentorship, guidance, and leadership to staff.
  • Implement and manage key HR functions including recruitment, payroll, talent management, employee relations, internal investigations, compensation, benefits, discipline, labor relations, mergers & acquisitions (M&A), leave management, and HRIS systems.
  • Stay current on HR trends, employment laws, regulatory changes, and new technologies impacting the business.
  • Collaborate with the Risk and Compliance Manager to ensure all compliance reports, internal audits, and external audits are completed on time.
  • Support strategic planning and resource allocation, including HR modeling, leadership development, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Lead internal training programs and communication efforts to ensure consistent management compliance across all company sites.
  • Develop and implement HR best practices that align with the company’s strategic goals and operational needs.
  • Conduct HR trend research and provide insights to the VP of HR that align with organizational goals.
  • Address and oversee employee relations issues, working closely with management to identify performance trends and advising on appropriate corrective actions or disciplinary measures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to handle time-sensitive tasks, maintain confidentiality, and manage multiple HR and Payroll functions simultaneously.
  • Proven ability to work with senior management and executives on projects, policy implementations, and strategic initiatives.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and direct staff effectively.
  • Expertise in interpreting and applying complex policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ability to work independently, using sound judgment as needed.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ethical decision-making.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience delivering presentations.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR and Payroll practices, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of management experience.
  • At least 8 years of HR experience and 4 years of payroll experience.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification required.
  • Valid Class C Driver’s License.

Language Skills:

  • Proficiency in English and Spanish are required.
