Engineering Manager

Position Summary

The Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading and managing a team of Process/Project Engineers. The Engineering Manager will report to the Director of Reaction Chemistry and will be responsible for ensuring that the team meets the company's goals and objectives.

Engineering Manager Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manage a team of Process/Project Engineers, expand the team as necessary to support the innovative and customer service-oriented company as it continues to grow.
  • Ensure Engineering Team meets their objectives of:
    • providing technical support to production
    • onboarding new processes
    • continually improving processes in the plant
    • providing designs for new equipment (reactor systems, piping, filtration systems, etc.)


  • Provide this support in the Reaction, Blending, and Packaging departments.
  • Develop Procedures, Standards, and other processes needed by the engineering team and the site to establish consistency and maintainability for the relevant systems… focusing on fit for purpose, reliability, and expandability to support the fast pace of growth.
    • Standardize designs where applicable (pumps, agitators, valves, systems)
    • Work with Automation Engineer to determine standards and appropriate guidelines to support growth and maintainability in Operations Technology.
    • Where applicable, establish specifications for piping and equipment as needed for construction.
  • Work with Design, Construction, and Maintenance teams to develop support and ensure standards are adopted and endorsed sitewide.
  • Work directly with the management teams in sales, operations, planning, safety, laboratory/ technical in providing support to the plant and supporting business initiatives.
  • Occasionally provide information and feedback to customers in the form of meetings, technical presentations, emails, etc…
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the Engineering team, ensuring the growth and development of the individuals and the overall success of the team.
  • Ensure that the team follows all safety and PSM related requirements.
  • Evaluate the efficiency of operational practices
  • Participate in and help ensure compliance with plant management systems (ISO, PSM, Responsible Care etc.)
  • Special Projects as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering is required
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in process support and/or process design
  • At least 10 years managing a Process Engineering Team in a Chemical Facility
  • Knowledge of PSM and safety procedures for handling hazardous chemicals

  • Strong leadership with demonstrated skills and ability to coach and develop others.
  • Knowledge of PSM and safety procedures for handling hazardous chemicals.

Physical Requirements

  • 60% Office Setting, including sitting, some bending, walking and viewing.
  • 40% Plant setting, including, bending, walking, lifting/moving objects less than 25 lbs.
