Responsibilities

Job Description:

  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic leadership and direction for the software development function, aligning software development initiatives with business goals and objectives. Define the technical vision and roadmap for software development, driving innovation and excellence in software engineering practices.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of software engineers, architects, and technical leads, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Provide mentorship, coaching, and support to team members, helping them grow and develop their skills.
  • Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software development projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, allocate resources, and monitor progress.
  • Technology Strategy: Define and implement technology strategies and architectures to support the company's business objectives. Evaluate emerging technologies and trends, and make recommendations for adoption and integration into the company's software development processes.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization within the software development lifecycle. Implement best practices, tools, and methodologies to enhance team efficiency, productivity, and quality of deliverables. Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and business stakeholders to understand project requirements, gather feedback, and ensure alignment with business goals and objectives. Act as a liaison between technical teams and stakeholders to facilitate communication and manage expectations.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks and issues that may impact project delivery or quality. Proactively address challenges, escalate issues as needed, and implement contingency plans to minimize project disruptions. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Manage departmental budgets and resources effectively, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and optimal utilization of budgetary funds. Collaborate with senior management to define resource requirements and budget allocations for software development projects.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Master's degree or additional certifications in software engineering, leadership, or business administration are a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 12+ years of experience in software development, with significant experience in leadership or management roles. Proven track record of leading and delivering complex software development projects and driving innovation in software engineering practices.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of software development principles, methodologies, and best practices. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or JavaScript. Experience with software development tools and technologies, such as version control systems (e.g., Git), integrated development environments (IDEs), and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Project Management: Solid understanding of project management principles and practices. Experience with project management tools and techniques for planning, scheduling, and tracking project progress. Familiarity with Agile or Scrum methodologies is preferred.
  • Leadership and Communication: Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and lead a large team of technical professionals. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with team members and stakeholders. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts and findings clearly and concisely.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes of issues and propose effective solutions. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities and requirements. Experience addressing risks and issues that may impact project delivery or quality, proactively identifying challenges and implementing contingency plans as needed.
