Quality Assurance / Control Manager - CA

Job Description

SUMMARY: The Quality Assurance / Control Manager is responsible for overseeing the activity of the quality assurance control department and staff, developing, implementing, and maintaining a system of quality and reliability testing for the organization's products and/or development processes. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee daily functions of the Inspection Department and Quality function (i.e. Quality Engineers, Quality technicians, etc.) personnel and provide guidance as necessary.
  • Responsible for the development and maintenance of the company's quality systems and associated processes to ensure adequate checks and balances exists to fulfill compliance with requirements.
  • Verify that all supervisors are provided with the latest revision of the necessary procedures, work instructions, and quality documents to guide their employees in the performance of their duties in compliance with the quality system
  • Assist the supervisors in identifying and providing the training of their employees and the documentation of the training completed
  • Responsible for the internal quality audit system including the review of internal audit checklists, training of auditors, assignment of auditors, review of internal audits, approval of the corrective action responses, and verification of corrective action implementation
  • Responsible for supplier quality assurance
  • Serve as the company ISO/AS Management Representative and manage and oversee the company’s compliance with ISO 9001/AS 9100
  • Responsible for the review of the Quality Policy Manual and procedures
  • Responsible for hosting the management review meetings, and documenting and distributing the minutes.
  • Will attend all manufacturing review meetings for identification of any quality concerns on jobs being issued to the shop
  • Lead contract review process. Work collaboratively with a cross-functional team to successfully and seamlessly transition new products into the facility while meeting quality systems requirements.
  • Will collect and analyze data for root collective actions and will lead not only the implementation of an RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) but also the zero-defect culture.
  • Will respond to all customer surveys, quality audits, and customer corrective action requests
  • Uphold the company's core values
  • Understand and apply all regulatory requirements applicable to the certifications held by the facility (i.e. AS9100, Nadcap, AWS, AMS, etc.). Be vigilant about the team’s understanding and application of these requirements. Train as necessary to fulfill this responsibility.
  • Own the material review process in partnership with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain. Establish periodic activities to review and disposition all non-conforming or suspected material and act accordingly with the intent to target zero defects.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvements through QMS (Quality Management System) changes and make this part of the culture within the team.
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities to include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and

disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Must be knowledgeable in Geometric Tolerancing, ISO 9000/AS 9100, and Quality Systems
  • Demonstrated experience in quality management, teaching and training
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment and competing demands
  • Able to lead cross-functional teams on deep problem-solving processes, with a focus on successful results and effectiveness sustainability.
  • Knowledge of DMAIC preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma (Green or black belt) trained, preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 5-7 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak and understand basic safety and manufacturing instructions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers. Ability to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Authorization to work in the United States. To conform to U.S. export control regulations, you should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government.
