Responsibilities

The Manager Global Trade Compliance & Customs plays a critical role in ensuring the company's international trade operations adhere to all relevant regulations while maximizing efficiency and minimizing risk. This position requires strategic thinking, strong leadership, and a deep understanding of global trade laws and policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement global trade compliance strategies to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to import/export controls, customs regulations, sanctions programs, and trade agreements.
  • Manage import/export processes, including classification, valuation, licensing, and documentation requirements, to facilitate the smooth flow of goods across borders while minimizing delays and costs.
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify areas of potential risk or non-compliance and implement corrective actions as necessary in support of continued membership in the CBP Importer Self Assessment program and the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism program.
  • Stay abreast of changes in trade regulations and advise internal stakeholders on potential impacts to the business, providing recommendations for proactive compliance measures.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant regulatory agencies, industry associations, and trade partners to ensure a comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal teams, including supply chain, logistics, procurement, and legal, on trade compliance matters to ensure a culture of compliance throughout the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement trade compliance processes and systems, leveraging technology and automation where possible to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on trade compliance matters, providing guidance and support to internal stakeholders on complex issues and transactions.
  • Manage and mentor a team of trade compliance professionals, providing leadership, direction, and professional development opportunities.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Active, good-standing US Customs broker's license.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, International Relations, Supply Chain Management, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in global trade compliance, with a strong understanding of import/export regulations, customs processes, and trade compliance best practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of international trade laws and regulations, including but not limited to ITAR, EAR, OFAC, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing trade compliance strategies in a complex, multinational environment.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including the ability to manage and mentor a team of trade compliance professionals.
