POSITION TITLE: Manager - AE Social Media

REPORTS TO: Sr Director - Social/PR

Position Summary

The Manager - AE Social Media will be the master keyholder to American Eagle’s evergreen social media seasonal calendar across platforms. In this role, you will be responsible for thoughtfully planning AE’s social content to align with brand stories throughout each season, using an insights-driven approach to content.

Responsibilities

  • Owning American Eagle’s social media calendar across all platforms — Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Pinterest (or more, if something relevant arises!) — liaising with CFTs across other marketing verticals (ex. email) to ensure brand consistency
    • Crafting zoomed-out views of AE’s “evergreen” social media calendars by floor set and presenting these to leadership
  • Adjusting calendar due to weekly read-and-react business shifts in order for social to work hard for the business
  • Identifying real-time cultural trends and content opportunities to achieve constant relevance
  • Utilize social creative best practices to partner with Associate Social Manager, Product Strategy on shot list direction
  • Own all patterning and swipe across social platforms, consolidating social media inspiration shared by rest of team to inform creative ideation for upcoming social content
  • Develop strategic creator briefs, with direction based on content insights and trends, to share with Influencer team
  • Create content when applicable
  • Attend shoots as needed
  • Guide and manage Social Media Coordinator, in particular to ensure seamless execution of:
    • Weekly and monthly social reporting and analytics, including clear insights and actionable next steps
    • Brand voice and tone throughout social copy
    • Ongoing community engagement
  • Craft weekly analytics reports with clear, data-driven recommendations to optimize ongoing social performance and contribute to business lift
  • Conduct daily social media listening across platforms to identify:
    • Emerging AE product trends
    • UGC to repurpose
    • Potential customer service issues
    • General sentiment and commentary about AE
  • Engage in daily community management to review inbounds and reactions to owned AE content (comments, DMs), with partnership from Customer Care
  • Partner with Associate Social Media Manager, Product Strategy to track timely delivery of all social media assets
  • Publish social media content across platforms
  • Create content when applicable (specific range of posts per month TBD)
  • Key CFTs: Creative, Brand, Email
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications or a related field.
  • 5+ years of post-degree experience in social media, preferably at a premium, fashion or luxury brand or at an agency focused in those categories.
  • Ability to create and edit social content (video & photo) on-the-fly highly preferred.
  • Experience uploading content to native video platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Snap, IG Reels) required.
  • Strong writing skills & innate ability to write for the social web, in-depth knowledge of social dashboards.
  • Experience managing substantial social media and content creation budgets.
  • Experience with digital execution with a focus on efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Experience in social crisis management.
  • Experience with regular reporting, collaborative strategic planning and ongoing campaign optimization.
  • High degree of proficiency MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.

  • Actual starting pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to relevant experience and location.
