Job Description

We’re seeking a Director of Procurement, Systems, Processes and Tools to join our team at WSP Canada. Reporting to the Vice President of Procurement, this role will be instrumental in shaping procurement activities in line with WSP Canada’s strategic goals. The successful candidate will bring a strong background in supply chain management, strategic sourcing, and vendor management, tailored to the Canadian market. They will lead a team of procurement professionals, collaborate with the global ESP team, manage key supplier relationships within the Canadian context, and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements that benefit WSP Canada. A proven track record in a similar role within the Canadian market and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment is essential.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Project-Based Procurement: Develop and implement agile procurement process and tools that will support fast track project execution as well as major complex projects.
  • Process design & optimization: Design, implement & document system-based processes and tools to:
  • Onboard and pre-qualify and manage external suppliers as part of our ERP implementation
  • Deploy the procurement process in the Canadian operations (Procure to Pay - P2P entire process).
  • Work collaboratively with the Global Procurement team and our Canadian operations to successfully implement these processes considering our hybrid Global Procurement model.
  • Implement management reporting dashboard using Power Bi tools.
  • Leadership: Manage and lead a team of procurement professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure they can perform their duties effectively.
  • Compliance and Ethics: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Ensure that procurement activities are conducted in an ethical and transparent manner.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Monitor market trends and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.


What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in project based procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the engineering industry with a proven track record of success in a similar role.
  • Extensive experience with procurement software and tools implementation along with the ability to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Strong leadership and management skills along with experience managing a team of procurement professionals.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Ability to work across the organisation and build collaborative relationships to deliver organisational goals.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective procurement strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of market trends and industry best practices
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers.
  • Commitment to ethical and transparent procurement practices.
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
