Manager, IT Quality Assurance - Remote

Overview

Circular Materials is seeking a Manager, IT Quality Assurance - Remote within Canada, to j oin the Circular Materials Technology team and bring leadership to develop, establish, and enforce quality assurance standards and measures for technology services within the organization. The QA Manager will apply proven analytical and problem-solving skills to help validate processes through careful testing to maximize the benefit of investments in enterprise initiatives.

This role offers the opportunity to work in an exciting, open and collaborative environment. The team works closely with functional areas on design, development, implementation and maintenance of applications and business solutions. Our team is focused on delivering on a multi-year digital transformation strategy to support the expansion of extended producer responsibility (EPR) recycling programs across Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, establishment, and enforcement of quality assurance measures and testing standards for new applications, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout their development/product lifecycles.
  • Ensure that software quality measures comply with regulatory standards, industry standards, and accepted best practices.
  • Create methodologies and processes for the collection and analysis of data for ensuring software, systems, and product quality.
  • Direct the analysis of formal test results in order to discover and report any defects, bugs, errors, configuration issues, and interoperability flaws.
  • Direct the analysis of documentation and technical specifications for any new application under deployment or consideration to determine its intended functionality.
  • Develop change control processes, practices, and guidelines for new and existing technologies.
  • Determine the selection and appropriate usage of automated test tools and data collection tools.
  • Develop and write test plans and scripts for tracking defects and fixes in product development, software application development, information systems, and operations systems.
  • Apply established metrics to determine the readiness, quality, and operability of software, systems, and products due for release to clients and/or within the enterprise.
  • Create and communicate test plans and scripts that will determine optimal application performance according to specifications; revise as needed.
  • Conduct internal audits to measure and assure adherence to established QA standards for software development, application integration, and information system performance, and corresponding documentation.
  • Coordinate testing of new software to ensure integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and technical specifications.
  • Communicate test progress, test results, and other relevant information to project stakeholders
  • Manage all members of the quality assurance team, and ensure that timelines are met.
  • Train, coach, and mentor QA team members.
  • Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of quality assurance best practices.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 3 years direct experience in overseeing the design, development, and implementation of quality assurance standards for software testing.
  • 3 years direct experience as a QA Manager for major application integration and/or major application product release.
  • At least 2 years direct experience managing all aspects of a QA team.
  • Strong knowledge of system testing metrics, best practices and methodologies.
  • Direct hands-on experience with ad hoc query programs, automated testing tools, and reporting software.
  • Proven data analysis, data verification, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good project management skills and/or substantial exposure to project-based work structures.
  • Extensive experience with SAP as well as SaaS applications.
  • Experience managing tasks through JIRA and Confluence

  • Excellent coaching, listening, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and accountable with e xperience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingualism in English and French. is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • This is a remote position requiring a flexible work schedule and periods of uneven workflow which may require periods of extended working hours to meet deadlines during peak business cycles. You must be legally eligible to perform Canadian work and must reside in Canada.
  • Adapting to a dynamic environment and with a tolerance for change is required as Circular Materials implements new program obligations.
  • Flexibility and understanding of serving across multiple time zones is required while managing and supporting projects across the country.
