POSITION SUMMARY

The Director, Non-Traditional Development is responsible for brand expansion of Traditional and Non-Traditional units through recruitment of new top tier franchisees, alongside expansion of existing franchisee portfolio. This position leads / creates / and manages all Franchise Sales Systems and Communications for recruitment of candidates for domestic Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr Development Agreement Sales.  The Director is accountable for targeted prospecting, lead generation and follow-up, franchisee candidacy qualification, consultative selling, negotiating in CKE’s best interest, and managing the development agreement process. Additionally, the Director is responsible for creating growth opportunities through innovation, strategic thinking, and building strong business relationships. While this position may do some Traditional Lead generation and recruitment, the role is focused on Non-Traditional opportunities.  The key industry for CKE’s Non - Traditional development will be Travel Centers and Gas & Convenience companies which will require a strong working knowledge of this Industry.  Airports, Travel Hubs and Colleges will also be a focus of this role.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

May perform any or all of the following duties:

  • This role is accountable for the relationship, lead generation and recruitment of candidates in a volume that meets short and long term growth goals of the brands.
  • Accelerates expansion of brands; develops, plans and executes franchise recruitment activities that generate qualified new franchise candidates and other business platforms to grow the restaurant systems
  • Utilizes industry and market experience to assist franchisees in achieving competitive penetration levels
  • Strong Communication skills with Franchisees, Franchisee Leadership, and all Corporate Departments
  • Must follow the CKE processes for approval of candidates which includes cross-functional interviews and approval of all candidates.
  • Makes recommendations to senior management in the creation of regional strategic development plans
  • Develops, maintains and utilizes regional industry, business, government and brokerage contacts in ongoing business development initiatives
  • Leads and supports existing franchisees with restaurant development planning activities
  • Initiates and participates in new market feasibility analysis
  • Utilizes GIS and other planning tools to evaluate market opportunities and conduct optimization studies
  • Works with Franchise Operations, Marketing, Supply Chain/Logistics, Corporate Development and Facilities teams to conduct cross-functional business reviews and franchise health assessments
  • Effectively creates, utilizes and manages franchise recruitment systems, tools, marketing and budget
  • Develops franchise recruitment marketing plans for regional markets with relevant localization to include trade missions and events, trade publications, direct mail, web content and other mediums
  • Achieves annual targets for new Development Agreement Sales, Commitments Sold, Pipeline Lead Generation, and New Restaurant Development. This encompasses goals related to recruiting new franchisees to the system and overseeing the management and sale of Corporate Assets and Contracts.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES

  • 10+ years of any combination of experience and/or education that demonstrates a commanding knowledge of QSR Franchising, Retail or Commercial Development, and able to work with complex Financial Analysis
  • Have 3-5 years QSR experience in the Petroleum, Airport and College Industries - High Level Contacts and relationships preferred
  • BA/BS Degree preferred
  • Must have excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Must have experience of managing and reporting lead progress within a CRM - Preferably FranConnect
  • Must have a demonstrated history of successful selling in a competitive environment
  • Prior experience in analysis (both quantitative and qualitative)
  • Must have intermediate knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, Zoom and Teams applications
  • Prior GIS or other market analytics experience
  • Must display strong analytical and organizational skills and have the ability to identify and implement process improvement strategies with positive business results
  • Must possess a high level of confidentiality to ensure proper handling of sensitive information
  • Must possess skills in multi-tasking, decision making and critical thinking
  • Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple competing responsibilities to deliver results

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Restaurant Support Center that is fast paced, high volume of activity and a deadline driven environment

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Sitting for extended periods of time, using telephone, typing and/or operating a computer and/or mouse
  • Standing, lifting & assembling materials at the brands booth while attending Conventions and Meet & Greet functions. 
  • Travel  -   50%
