Position Summary:

This Director position will be responsible for strategic management and optimization of global materials sourcing and spend as well as managing a team of sourcing professionals. The Director of Global Sourcing will be responsible for selection and development of Contract Manufacturers, conducting supplier performance (QBR’s), product BOM sourcing from global suppliers to maximize margin and performance, commodity management, contract negotiation, and NPD sourcing to enable regional manufacturing and Franchise Assembly. The Director of Global Sourcing will provide strategic and project management direction to support cross-functional teams, working as an operations liaison between the product management, project management, engineering, finance, business unit, internal factories, contract manufacturers and subassembly suppliers. This position has full responsibility for the implementation, management and evaluation of all phases of sourcing operations to maximize customer, cost and cash performance.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Create a culture of procurement excellence so that the global sourcing function is viewed as a strategic partner, commercially responsible for Ergotron’s P and L performance and the projected margin performance of new products in development.
  • Function as the subject matter expert, viewed as the strategic sourcing and negotiation authority sought out by business leaders to support all strategic and ongoing sourcing direction.
  • Develop and maintain a supplier segmentation and classification system
  • Coordinate and oversee the ongoing development and maintenance of category strategies
  • Lead the search and support the onboarding of new contract manufacturers and suppliers
  • Support development of product sourcing plans to ensure supply optimization and risk avoidance
  • Provide monthly updates and presentations to the Ergotron Leadership Team
  • Ensure the sourcing team is resourced properly to support revenue growth
  • Support development of prototyping strategies and resources
  • Demonstrate ability to manage supply to meet demands in both supply expedites to preserve revenue and pushouts to optimize inventories
  • Develop budgets, plans and KPI’s to track performance of Direct Material
  • Track financial results, implementation performance and supplier performance; identify gaps and variances in performance and make adjustments to restore performance to plan
  • Promote operational efficiency and facilitate cross-functional decision making related to sourcing.
  • Participates in the coordination and release of R&D projects.
  • Develop, audit and maintain relationships with strategic Suppliers.
  • Develop/execute commodity and supply base optimization strategies and action plans.
  • Evaluate existing and potential suppliers, search for new suppliers.
  • Initiate and execute cost savings projects.
  • Initiate and execute request for quotation.
  • Collaborate with cross functional groups to develop and qualify materials, components, processes, assemblies and suppliers.
  • Negotiate prices, terms, statements of work, technical requirements and contracts in collaboration with the legal department.
  • Manage projects and tasks to meet deliverables and deadlines.
  • Work with supply base to identify and optimize safety, quality, delivery, and cost initiates.
  • Develops and recommends best practices
  • Integrates solutions across the business through application of a broad understanding of how the company operates.
  • Additional duties as requested.
  • Supports “Lean Business Enterprise” initiatives for continuous process improvement and waste elimination.


Position Requirements (Knowledge and Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Materials/Procurement Mgmt., or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience with multi-site, multi-process continuous manufacturing operations across a wide range of U.S. and international geographies
  • Solid understanding of procurement best practices and a track record of success with both direct and indirect materials
  • Direct management of a global procurement organization with demonstrated accomplishments driving continuous improvements using best practices and value engineering
  • Prior experience working with cross-functional/cross-cultural teams, managing global relationships based on common objectives across a wide variety of geographies managing projects and lead complex change across multiple sites and countries
  • Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in procurement and sourcing.
  • International Procurement Experience
  • Negotiating and contracting expertise desired. Demonstrated ability to handle difficult and complex contracts.
  • Working knowledge of current manufacturing processes, delivery/scheduling tools and techniques, basic technical knowledge, materials expertise, quality controls and basic design concepts.
  • Demonstrated problem solving capability and use of system tools to aid project development.
  • Ability to understand and apply Total Cost of Ownership principles.
  • PC skills in Microsoft applications. Oracle experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
  • Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job as described to you for the position.
