Associate In House Counsel (Contract Focused)

                                                          

We are seeking to hire a qualified attorney with business law and contract/transactional experience to become a key member of our legal team and provide direct support to the General Counsel. The initial focus will be contract coordination, review and negotiation to ensure business compatibility and manage risk, but the role also requires a professional with the ability to provide legal support in a variety of employment related areas. This is an excellent opportunity to learn from an experienced corporate lawyer and commence a career as in-house counsel. This position is a full-time, in-office position on the east side of Louisville, Kentucky.


Duties and Responsibilities* 

·    Draft, review, amend and negotiate non-disclosure agreements, master service agreements, purchase agreements, and terms and conditions with customers, vendors and subcontractors.

·    Ensure that all contractual agreements align with company policies.

·    Maintain accurate records and documentation.

·    Research and draft various legal documents, policies and procedures.

·    Assist in developing and implementing human resource and business policies.

·    Assist in researching and providing guidance on a wide range of employment related issues, including investigations, terminations, wage and hour, workplace accommodations, change in labor and business laws and other related areas.

·    Participate in providing outside counsel, insurance companies and governmental agencies with necessary information and documentation.

·    Establish and maintain relationships, credibility, and trust with management, team members and customers through responsiveness, clear communications and professionalism.


Qualifications and Required Skills 

·    Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school with a strong academic record

·    Licensed to practice law and in good standing

·    At least two years of experience in business/contracts/transactional law

·    Proficient understanding of contract law

·    Strong problem-solving and legal analysis abilities, sound judgment, discretion and efficient project management skills

·    Good organization skills and the ability to multitask on several projects simultaneously

·    High degree of professionalism, organization, accuracy and attention to detail

·    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

·    Ability to manage a heavy workload and prioritize multiple projects with competing deadlines

·    Ability to explain complex concepts to management and work well with employees at all levels of the company

·    Ability to work well independently and as part of a team and in both cases remain driven to contribute

·    Experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook with ability to learn to new systems
