About Harry's

Harry's Inc. is building a modern CPG company by putting people first and delivering against real unmet consumer needs.

The company's flagship brand - Harry's - was founded by Jeff Raider and Andy Katz-Mayfield in 2013. After successfully launching and scaling Harry's, Jeff and Andy saw an opportunity to bring their experience building Harry's to other CPG categories where the consumer has also been historically underserved.

Harry's Inc. has grown significantly over the last ten years, and is now made up of four brands - Harry's, Flamingo, Lume, Mando - and Harry's Labs, the company's incubation and M&A engine. The company employs more than 900 people across the U.S., U.K. and Germany, and is the largest CPG company built in the last 20 years.

At Harry's Inc, our mission is to Create Things People Like More — whether it's a product, an experience, or an internal tool, we believe in making the things around us better for our customers, and our team.

Our mission extends beyond customers and team, to the community broadly. We believe that the best business models make a positive impact. So, we set aside 1% of sales across Harry's, Flamingo, and Lume to support our social mission, including through donations to our nonprofit partners.

At the end of the day, the key to our success is our amazing people. From chemists, mechanical engineers, CX associates, to creative directors, sourcing managers, and logistics specialists, the Harry's team is composed of some of the most brilliant, diverse, and humble people you'll ever meet. Our company is a place of inclusion, innovation, and deeply ingrained values.

About the role

The Head of Creative Operations is a high-impact leadership role within Lume that will work on both the Lume and Mando brands, ensuring that Creative output is aligned with our brands' visions and meets our measures of success. This leader will oversee a team whose scope includes graphic design, print/physical design, copywriting, motion graphics, video editing, landing page and email development, and creative project management.

Lume is a performance-led company with a Creative team that works closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, high-performing creative. Strong candidates for this role will have extensive experience in the Creative industry, be excited to partner closely with our Performance Marketing and Creative Performance & Strategy teams, and be energized by people management and the opportunity to support individual career development. We seek someone willing to propose, test, and refine systems and become the "glue" of the team, who will foster an ambitious creative agenda, and encourage their team to do the same.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a fast-moving, innovative, collaborative, and supportive team culture that allows the Lume and Mando brands to stay on the cutting edge creatively and laser-focused on developing creative that works hard to drive business growth.
  • Ensure creative work supports overall business and brand strategy. Develop and track objectives & key results for the Creative team. Collaborate with Performance Marketing, DTC, Amazon, Retail, and Product Development teams to understand strategic priorities and how Creative can support them. Meet on a recurring basis with team leaders to assess what's working vs. not.
  • Team leadership and people management: lead, mentor, and manage a 20+ member multidisciplinary Creative team. Invest in the development of direct reports, including development plans, clarifying role scope and ownership evolution across time, clearly defining expectations, and enabling individuals and the team as a whole to deliver breakthrough creative work.
  • Org design, team building, and budget management. Anticipate hiring needs based on current and future workload expectations, and translate that into long-range org model planning, including an internal vs. external resourcing strategy. Weigh in on hiring panels and processes to ensure we recruit top talent and set new team members up for long-term success. Own the needs assessment and budget recommendations for team productivity tools, travel budget, learning and development.
  • Process and systems design and optimization: Have a complete view of the end-to-end process from insight --> creative idea --> brief --> creative work --> approval process --> final asset delivery for all creative output. Proactively look for and surface opportunities to drive improvements with stakeholder teams. Establish and improve processes, sort out roles and responsibilities, audit and restructure meetings as needed, and help to implement mutually agreed-upon changes.
  • Brand stewardship, guidelines, and approvals. Put in place clear documentation of brand guidelines, approval processes, and training materials for new team members. Determine a system of brand approvals leveraging the support of Associate Creative Directors. Provide guidance to ensure visual identity is consistent across brand materials and ensure all content meets quality standards.

Match and elevate the creative vision and strategy established by our founder. Collaborate with our founder, Dr. Shannon Klingman, and the Creative Performance & Strategy team to strategize around creative storytelling priorities, styles/formats of content to create, ways to create or source content, and prudent uses of our creative production budget.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in a creative leadership role, preferably for a high-growth DTC or omni-channel consumer products brand. Mass retail experience is a plus.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide creatives of all types. Experience helping both individuals and team leads grow in their roles. Has managed large, multidisciplinary teams before.
  • Very comfortable working in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment, with in-house experience at a growth-stage company building: creative teams, systems & processes, and decision making frameworks to turn ambiguity into clarity.
  • Solutions-oriented and effective cross-functional collaborator. Willing to share a perspective at all times, can diplomatically navigate differences in opinion, and surfaces ideas for how to move projects forward even if it requires teams to disagree and commit.
  • Creative operations expert: deep familiarity with creative development processes for all types of creative output (digital design, print/physical design, copywriting, digital video ads, TV ad production, email development, web UI/UX and landing page creation, etc.) and an understanding of common pitfalls/challenges and ways to overcome them.
  • Thrives working closely with Performance Marketing teams to create hypothesis-driven digital ad creative concepts for the team to test, learn, and adapt as quickly as possible.
  • Familiar with and has a history of fluency in tools for executing creative work: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Stager, InDesign, Photoshop, Klaviyo email builder (or equivalent).
  • Detail-oriented with a strong eye for design and quality control.
  • Humble and zero ego in spite of expertise—easy to work with, great cross-functional collaborator, and someone who is open to and welcomes their POV being challenged.
  • Ability to adapt to change and work in a dynamic, collaborative environment. You can see around corners and pair every problem with at least one idea of what to do about it. You're flexible, approach problems with curiosity, and think being kind is a superpower.
