Based in Houston, the Operations Manager will lead Direct Production, Cask Warehousing, Blending, Whisky Processing, Supply Chain, and Facilities Management. This role is dedicated to ensuring that goods are manufactured in accordance with established plans and schedules, and within clearly defined quality and cost objectives including monitoring of operations & quality KPIs.

Job Responsibilities

Production Process Management

  • Oversee all activities relating to Production, Whisky Preparation, Supply Chain, and Facilities Management, while fostering a culture of safety excellence and best practice adherence.
  • Optimize and implement production processes to enhance efficiency and uphold high-quality standards.
  • Oversee monthly inventory of all whisky stocks and production locations.
  • Ensure the Production Schedule meets Customer demand at all times.
  • Responsible for proposal and implementation of operations capital expenditures.
  • Direct the safe and efficient operation of all production processes, while adhering to our strict quality parameters.
  • Development, implementation, and ongoing review of operational KPIs to track performance metrics closely.
  • Analyze departmental workflows to establish optimal staffing models for each department that meet production demands effectively.
  • Ensure productivity standards are maintained through the efficient scheduling, training and management of all staff.

Safety / Environmental

  • Ensure compliance with all safety requirements, company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Conduct regular departmental inspections while providing leadership and development of procedures continuously.
  • Identify potential safety concerns, proposing solutions to mitigate risks promptly.
  • Maintain and update Operations Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Lead company Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) requirements
  • Ensure OSHA compliance throughout sites by ensuring correct training of the team and carrying out regular audits of work practices.

Profile

Production Maintenance

  • Maintains functional knowledge of all production equipment operation. Supervise production line changeovers and adjustments in a timely manner.
  • Develop and sustain Production Operator training programs that enable independent trouble shooting and rectification of routine equipment interventions

Employee Management

  • Responsible for the management of the team, acting as a leader and escalating issues through the proper communication channels.
  • Develop and instill a culture of positivity and engagement throughout the business
  • Address and appraise performance by identifying training and development opportunities. Acting as a coach/mentor when required.
  • Work with General Management during recruitment processes of new employees
  • Responsible for overseeing the training & development of the Operations team.
  • Maintain and submit accurate payroll records and timecards for employees, when applicable.

Financial Management

  • Monitor and maintain monthly and annual budget supervision for Cost Centers under Operations’ management ensuring financial targets are met
  • Forecasting and planning of budget based on strategic needs
  • Participate in developing operating budgets and budgets for capital projects.
  • Create quarterly labor requests based on department demands.
  • Ensure strict adherence to agreed budgets without compromising on output quality or delivery commitments.

Supply Chain

  • Ensuring efficient receipt of all dry goods as well as cask deliveries are aligned.
  • Manage logistics of products reaching customers throughout the world.

Additional Information

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in operations and or facility management
  • Experience within the wine, spirits, food or beverage industry
  • Proven and established experience in a managerial role
  • Previous experience with capital planning and project management
  • High level of financial / business acumen as demonstrated through previously held roles/responsibilities.

Technical

  • Strong understanding of production and maintenance engineering
