Job Title: Medical Science Liaison (MSL) - Rare Disease


Location: Field-based, covering Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota


Reports To: National MSL Director


Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join our client's team focused on rare diseases. The MSL will play a critical role in establishing and maintaining relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders within the assigned territory. This individual will provide scientific and medical expertise, build advocacy, and support the strategic objectives of our client's rare disease portfolio.


Key Responsibilities:

  • KOL Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with KOLs, healthcare providers, and other key stakeholders in the assigned territory to communicate and discuss scientific data related to our rare disease products.
  • Medical Education: Provide scientific and medical information through presentations, discussions, and meetings with KOLs, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders. Organize and participate in medical education activities such as advisory boards, speaker programs, and symposiums.
  • Clinical Support: Serve as a scientific resource for the healthcare community, addressing unsolicited requests for information and providing clinical support related to rare diseases and the company’s products.
  • Field Intelligence: Gather and report insights from the field on clinical practices, competitor activities, and market trends to inform the company’s strategy and decision-making.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams such as Clinical Development, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, and Commercial to ensure alignment of objectives and communication of field insights.
  • Compliance: Ensure all activities are conducted in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Qualifications:

    • Education: Doctorate degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, or equivalent) in a related field is required.
    • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
    • Skills:
    • Strong scientific acumen and ability to translate complex scientific information into impactful communication.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to build relationships with KOLs and other healthcare professionals.
    • Ability to work independently in a field-based role and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
    • Proficiency with medical databases, CRM systems, and standard office software.
    • Territory Coverage: Ability to travel extensively within the assigned territory (Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota), with occasional travel outside the territory for meetings and conferences.
