This position will be focused on the Advanced Manufacturing sector and the ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal communication skills, and strong leadership/coordination acumen. This position will be responsible for aggressively identifying, prospecting, developing, securing and qualifying business opportunities to support new revenue growth for Construction Management and Design/Build services. This is a hands-on management position requiring flexibility and adaptability in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment and a strategic understanding of AEC business operations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Four-year college degree or equivalent experience
- 10 years of business development experience with 4 years business development experience in the construction industry (i.e., General Contractor, Construction Manager, Design/Build, etc.) preferred.
- Previous experience in Industrial and Advanced Manufacturing markets. Experience with Design-Build, CM at Risk and Qualifications Based delivery methods preferred.
- Willingness to travel. Travel is expected in this role and could be heavy at times.
- Communication - excellent oral presentation and written skills.
- Interpersonal - Able to work well and persuade people at all levels of organization. Seeks ways to provide mutual internal support to others.
- Goal oriented - able to set goals and achieve them. Individual must be a self starter.
- Organizational ability - able to plan, prioritize, organize and monitor activities and projects. Able to work well in a group environment and foster a team approach.
- Lead and support national growth opportunities in the Advanced Manufacturing market with a heavy focus on the Southeastern United States
- Responsible for communicating regularly with the VP, Client Growth and Strategy, Regional Office leadership, other Business Development Leads, and Preconstruction
- Conduct appropriate research to identify target companies/organizations within advanced manufacturing
- Contacts, qualifies and sets appointments with targets via telephone and electronic means
- Visits qualified targets and/or arranges for personal sales calls by appropriate BE&K personnel
- Provides targets with appropriate BE&K marketing material and responses to specific interests identified by targets
- Prepares qualifications statements and assists in preparing responses to proposals for specific projects in collaboration with our marketing department
- Develops and maintains relationships with local and national civic, professional, and economic organizations that are sources of prospects
- Effectively and fully utilizes the company's existing client relationship management system
- Develops and manage a public relations program to include marketing and customer outreach for the advanced manufacturing market
- Represents BE&K at trade shows, conventions, and professional meetings
- Attends regular sales meetings with the leadership team to maintain accountability. Assists with coordination of business development activity. Sets priorities and measures progress against the annual sales plan.
- Assists, cooperates, and coordinates with other business units throughout the company to maximize companywide sales. Values the success of the whole (i.e., company and all business developers) before their own personal success.
