Accounting Manager

Location: Phoenix, AZ or Minneapolis, MN - mix of remote work and in-person; up to 20% travel possible

With a successful launch last year, we now manage a portfolio of three companies and are poised for further expansion. We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Manager to join our team and play a crucial role in the financial operations and strategic planning of our organization.

Job Description:

As the Accounting Manager at Big Band Software, you will be responsible for a wide range of finance and accounting activities. This multifaceted role requires a detail-oriented professional who can efficiently manage tasks such as payroll, creating budgets and forecasts, consolidating financials, overseeing external bookkeeping resources, cash management, external valuations and audits, and m&a transaction related accounting. Must have a strong accounting background with the ability to also handle strategic finance responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage financial reporting preparation process including month-end accounting close and management/board financial packages, including consolidation reporting across the holding company
• Monthly and quarterly variance reporting for both the holding company and portfolio companies
• Drive M&A related finance responsibilities such as external valuations, financial due diligence, closing statements, and accounting/banking consolidation efforts
• Lead budgeting and forecasting initiatives across the portfolio
• Manage treasury related activities such as cash forecasting, bank accounts, and capital distribution
• Assist with transactional accounting duties including accounts payable, payroll, and other general ledger items

Requirements:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. MBA or professional certifications (e.g., CPA) are a big plus
• Proven experience (5 years+) in a similar finance/accounting role
• Experience with mergers and acquisitions 
• History of working with and overseeing external accounting firms and resources (audit, valuations, bookkeeping, etc.)
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
• Experience building out systems and processes from scratch
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in financial software and ERP systems
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
