About The Job

To support our organic growth plans in North America, Synthomer has established a regional project management Office (PMO) to support the execution of projects and continuous improvement activities across the region.

The electrical, instrumentation & controls manager is a regional functional engineering leader, responsible for the E, I & C group across the North American Region. This role will be responsible for defining and standardizing E, I & C systems in line with the business needs and project requirements. The role will be develop technical excellence within the local E, I & C engineering functions and will ensure end-user satisfaction is regarded as of utmost importance. The E, I & C Manager will be based out of South Carolina, with travel as required, up to 20%, to the site and project locations.

Job Responsibilities

Engineering

  • Drives Functional Engineering Excellence within EI&C team.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of Engineering Best Practices.
  • Delivers functional engineering in line with the Global Project Framework.
  • Directs department activities to design new systems and modify existing designs. Responsible for the quality of the documentation i.e. specification, procedures generated in EI&C area.
  • Leads functional engineering standardization for the region related to projects and engineering processes.
  • Develops, Implements and Maintains common engineering tools for effective project execution i.e. models, estimating, project documentation, resource planning.
  • Provides engineering guidance activities for NA manufacturing facilities i.e. system obsolesce, inspections and audits, impact of regulatory changes in EICA domain.

Project

  • Provide full support to ensure projects are delivered within time, to budget and to the required quality.
  • Reviews the project requirements with the project managers and execute projects according to Project Execution Plan.
  • Responsible for EICA resource planning and providing competent resources based on the required complexity of projects, in line with the Capital Plan.
  • Design and specify EICA for new projects with the responsible engineer(s) for the project, utilizing outside resources where necessary.
  • Provide cost estimates to Project Managers for EICA function. Ensure all related information is suitably documented and updated.
  • Propose best available EICA technology that will aid to cost reduction, improvement in product quality, reduction of energy and total asset life cycle costs.

Management

  • Use personal initiative and business directives to achieve fit for purpose solution based on business needs.
  • Ensure all engineering work meets the required company standards and statutory compliance.
  • Ensure local team have adequate training and development plans in place to aid professional development and to encourage retention of staff.
  • Report on functional performance to the Head of Project Management Office and engineers progress to Engineering/Project Managers.
  • Team performance management and drive talent management practices in the EICA dept. .

Other Responsibilities

  • Manage continuous improvement initiatives for time, cost and quality improvements.
  • Drive departmental performance to achieve organizational goals.
  • Coaching & mentoring of other junior members of the team.

What You'll Need To Be Successful

  • Degree in Electrical / Electronic / Control & Automation engineering or equivalent, with minimum 10 years’ experience in related field.
