Human Resources Business Partner

LOGISTEC is seeking a dynamic Human Resources Business Partner to join our team. In this role, you will serve as a key advisor to managers and staff across our network of ports and terminals in the United States. You will provide strategic HR support, foster effective people management practices, and drive HR initiatives to enhance organizational performance.


Location

Primarily based in Baltimore, MD, with occasional travel to East Coast locations, Texas, and Montreal.


Salary

$80,000 - $90,000/year + annual bonus plan

Responsibilities

  • Advisory Role: Provide expert guidance to managers and staff on HR issues, offering strategic advice on organizational and people-related matters.
  • HR Program Development: Contribute to the creation and implementation of HR programs, including talent acquisition, management, training, compensation, labor relations, and learning and development.
  • Policy Implementation: Partner with management to develop and apply effective HR policies and practices, monitor progress, and ensure consistent implementation.
  • Employee Relations: Manage and resolve employee relations issues, including feedback, investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations, with a focus on both unionized and non-unionized environments.
  • Recruitment Strategies: Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to develop effective recruitment strategies.
  • HR Processes: Support the implementation of annual HR processes such as performance reviews and compensation cycles.
  • Learning & Development: Work with the Learning & Development team to enhance training, career development, and job performance programs.
  • Culture and Engagement: Promote a culture of excellence and ensure effective onboarding and employee engagement through surveys and feedback.
  • HR Data Analysis: Analyze and interpret HR performance data to guide decision-making and provide proactive solutions. Proficiency in Excel is required.
  • Union Relations: Advise on the interpretation and application of collective agreements and act as a representative for union employees.


Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5 to 8 years of experience as an HR Business Partner with a strong background in employee relations within a unionized environment, change management, and HR operations.
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of HR programs, practices, and relevant state and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Skills:

-Strong business acumen and problem-solving abilities.

-Proven leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written.

-Excellent analytical and interpretation skills.

-Ability to listen to and address the needs of employees and the company.

-Experience working in a unionized environment is preferred.

-Proficiency in MS Office Suite and HRIS systems; familiarity with social media platforms like LinkedIn is a plus.

-SHRM certification is an asset.


Other Details

All employees must pass a background check, drug screening, and pre-employment physical and be able to obtain a valid TWIC card within a specified period of hire.
