General Job Description

Position Overview

The Vice President, People Services, at IES will lead and oversee the People Services function, including Payroll Shared Services, HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) ownership, and overall employee services strategy. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the company’s human resources operations are efficient, compliant, and aligned with the strategic goals of the organization. The VP, People Services, will be responsible for driving the transformation of HR operations through technology, process optimization, and service excellence.

Reports To: Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Strategy
  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for People Services, aligning it with the overall HR strategy and business goals.
  • Lead and manage a high-performing team responsible for payroll, HRIS, and employee services.
  • Serve as a key advisor to the CHRO and executive leadership on matters related to HR operations, payroll, and HR technology.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and service excellence within the People Services team.
  • Payroll Shared Services
  • Oversee the Payroll Shared Services function, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across all company locations.
  • Implement and monitor payroll policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Lead initiatives to improve payroll processes, enhance efficiency, and reduce costs while maintaining high standards of service.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors and partners involved in payroll processing and related services.
  • HRIS Ownership
  • Lead the strategic direction and management of HRIS, ensuring that the system meets the evolving needs of the organization.
  • Oversee the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of HRIS, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with IT, HR, and other business units to integrate HRIS with other systems and platforms, enhancing overall business processes.
  • Drive the adoption of HR technology solutions that improve employee experience, streamline HR operations, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
  • Ensure that all payroll and HRIS processes comply with relevant laws and regulations, including labor laws, tax regulations, and data privacy requirements.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks related to payroll, HRIS, and employee services.
  • Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard employee data and ensure the accuracy of payroll and HR records.
  • Employee Services and Experience
  • Lead the development and delivery of employee services that enhance the employee experience and support the overall HR strategy.
  • Ensure that employee inquiries related to payroll, HRIS, and other services are addressed promptly and accurately.
  • Implement programs and initiatives that improve employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention.
  • Budget and Financial Management
  • Develop and manage the People Services budget, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services and alignment with company financial goals.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to payroll, HRIS, and employee services.

Specific Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in HR operations, payroll management, and HRIS leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of leading large-scale HR transformation projects and initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes, HRIS systems, and related regulations.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts for HR services and technology.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically, with a focus on delivering measurable results.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
