Eligibility Coordinator

Brief Description

Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (“The HARRIS CENTER”) is looking for a Eligibility Coordinator to join our team working with the Harris County Inspire program. Under the general direction of the business office supervisor, schedules and performs financial assessments to determine service eligibility. Collaborates with staff in facilitating follow-up on missed financial assessment appointments.

Your Role In Action

  • Schedules and performs financial assessments to determine financial eligibility and MAP
  • Provides education on MHMRA financial policy.
  • Provides referrals to CBO and other community resources.
  • Updates demographic information.
  • Coordinates with and updates SAI (single accountable individual)
  • Provides documentation of work activities with consumers and follows up with no shows.
  • Performs related work as assigned and adapts to changing work requirements.
  • Demonstrates ethical conduct in all clinical and professional activities
  • Complies with agency policies and procedures, accrediting/regulatory bodies and performance contract documentation requirements.

Education

What qualifications you will need:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D)
  • Bachelors, Degree, preferred. QMHP preferred.

Experience

  • Prior experience working with individuals with mental illness.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Basic understanding of what mental illness is, common signs and symptoms and able to identify difficulties with coping in community settings.
  • Local Resource knowledge preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with mental illness, preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, listening and interpersonal skills above average, written documentation is clear, concise, well- constructed and grammatically correct.
  • Able to work collaboratively with others in a teamwork environment.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Able to execute standard word processing and excel software on the computer.
