ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

The Knot is looking for a Senior Lifestyle Editor to join a dynamic Editorial team. This role will shape the dialogue across platforms. Reporting to the Deputy Editor, the Sr. Lifestyle Editor will be responsible for leading our lifestyle vertical across the following categories: Relationships and Sex, Gifting, Entertainment and News, and Engagement. This role collaborates with content strategists, editors, writers, and creatives to depict key storytelling opportunities with a user-first mindset. This position thoughtfully approaches all aspects of packaging by bringing themes and concepts to life to move our brand and business forward. The Senior Editor will be responsible for ideating, writing and producing content across broader thought leadership packages, topically unpacking lifestyle category content, working closely with the Editorial Leadership Team on franchises and other scalable content opportunities. They will be responsible for managing a team of editors. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • -Shapes the relationship, gifting, entertainment and overall lifestyle narrative for The Knot in partnership with Strategy and the Deputy Editor.
  • Serves as the brand’s subject matter expert in the Lifestyle category space to fuel brand awareness, audience loyalty and drive affiliate revenue.
  • Manages and mentors several direct reports, aligning weekly on expectations and priorities.
  • Provides clear and timely feedback on top edits within Lifestyle vertical, as well as content pitches.
  • Ensures all deadlines and goals are met, in addition to team efficiencies and opportunities.
  • Collaborates across teams to align on content and affiliate strategy, creative ideation and social promotion in order to achieve KPIs.

SUCCESSFUL SR LIFESTYLE EDITOR CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • 8+ years of professional experience writing for an online brand or digital publication.
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • Superb writing and reporting skills, including experience writing for sensitive and high-touch topics.
  • Ability to motivate team with the execution of business goals.
  • Proven track record of thinking strategically in order to make business-first decisions.
  • Robust experience creating and/or overseeing affiliate content; deep understanding of affiliate landscape at large including affiliate networks and monetization platforms
  • Deep understanding of SEO best practices and how to implement this in day to day content creation.
  • A champion of inclusivity and diversity, viewing both as an integral part of editorial content.
  • A seasoned professional who can easily work cross-functionally with little oversight—a true leader and team player.
  • Experience motivating and leading a team of editors and writers to produce their best work on time and with accuracy in order to hit goals.
  • Reporting background and experience with a list of sources (or the ability to relationship-build) across various categories.
  • Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Extremely detail-oriented with a commitment to hitting deadlines
  • A passion for pushing creative boundaries and keeping your finger on the pulse, as it relates to the relationship, dating and sexual wellness content space.
  • Graciously receives and implements feedback
  • Media trained and intermediate comfortability on camera with necessary prep work and advanced notice.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism or related field.
