Director of Software
- Strategically grow the autonomous aircraft software development team from the ground up
- Lead the design, execution and delivery of the entire software stack for the aircraft system
- Develop a robust, and deliverable, software architecture for the overall aircraft system
- Develop a schedule and budget to deliver a reliable and certifiable software system
- Stand-up industry-best software development and management processes
- Collaborate with and manage external vendors to achieve product milestones
- Proactively and creatively approach problems, burning down technical risks early and throughout the program
- Embody a proactive and optimistic approach, bringing a can-do attitude to the workplace every day, fostering a positive and dynamic work environment
- Travel up to 25% of the time
- Bachelor's or advanced degrees in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in the development and delivery to a schedule for a complex hardware and software system
- Experience developing software across all levels of hardware, complexity and functionality (embedded to cloud)
- Experience developing an R&D plan for multiple complex technical projects
- Experience developing complex software systems that meet stringent performance, safety and regulatory requirements
- Experience in the aviation, automotive, or robotics industry
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain problems and solutions to both technical and non-technical individuals
- Excels at collaborating in a fast-paced startup environment with changing priorities, technical requirements, and a growing team
- Must be eligible to work in the US without hindrance
- 10+ years of software engineering experience developing and deploying certifiable-grade software in the aerospace or automotive industry
- Demonstrated experience successfully developing software for high-reliability, high performance
- Experience with DO-178 and similar aerospace industry software standardsEmploy a methodical approach to solving problems
- Excellent software engineering skills
