Head of HR Compliance & Controls

We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive individual to join our organization as Sr. Director, HR Compliance & Controls. You will ensure that our company complies with all HR-related laws, regulations, and policies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR compliance, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Location:

  • This position is a hybrid role, on-site 3 days per week at one of the following office locations: Chevy Chase, MD; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Fredericksburg, VA; Lakeland, FL; Tucson, AZ; Virginia Beach, VA

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement HR compliance programs and policies to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Monitor and assess compliance risks within the organization and develop strategies to mitigate those risks.
  • Stay up to date with changes in HR laws and regulations and communicate any updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and support to management and employees on HR compliance matters, including employee relations, equal employment opportunity, wage and hour laws, and employee benefits.
  • Conduct regular audits and investigations to identify potential compliance issues and develop action plans to address them.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel to review and update HR policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on HR compliance topics to ensure employees are informed and aware of their responsibilities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records related to HR compliance activities.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for external audits and regulatory inspections related to HR compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in HR compliance, with a focus on employment law and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local HR laws and regulations.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing HR compliance programs and policies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate compliance risks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate and complete records.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) or Certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) are preferred.
