BrightFarms is a national leader in the booming indoor farming industry, transforming how produce is grown and delivered with its expanding network of high-tech, sustainable hydroponic farms. We currently operate six high-tech greenhouse farms, with four new regional salad greenhouse hubs breaking ground to begin opening in 2024. BrightFarms' fresh lettuce options, from classic greens to crunchy mixes and salad kits, are available in more than 3,700 retail stores across the East Coast and Midwest.

We are looking for a highly experienced and motivated Regional Food Safety & Quality Manager to oversee our food safety and quality assurance operations across our farms in the Midwest and East Coast regions. The ideal candidate will have a strong leadership background, proven experience in corrective actions, crisis management, and a collaborative team spirit. This role requires significant travel (up to 50%) and a commitment to cultivating a culture of food safety.

Specifically, You Will

  • Lead and manage food safety and quality assurance programs across BrightFarms locations, ensuring compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements
  • Develop, implement, and monitor food safety policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with SQF and other food safety standards
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections, identify potential risks, and implement corrective actions promptly
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for crisis management, developing and executing response plans in the event of a food safety incident
  • Foster a strong food safety culture among all staff, providing training and guidance to ensure understanding and adherence to policies
  • Collaborate with farm managers and other team members to continuously improve food safety and quality processes
  • Report on key performance metrics, trends, and areas for improvement to senior management
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in food safety and quality

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in food safety and quality management, preferably in the fresh produce industry
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire a diverse team
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing food safety policies and procedures
  • Excellent crisis management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time, with a requirement to reside near a major airport for efficient travel
  • Proficiency in English; Spanish language skills are a plus
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment
