Summary: Arconic is seeking a Maintenance Unit Supervisor for the Rolling Department. The role involves providing leadership and direction to maintenance crews to ensure efficient metal production in a lean manufacturing environment. The supervisor is responsible for safety, productivity, quality, and problem-solving in both planned and unplanned maintenance scenarios. The position requires strong leadership skills, a focus on continuous improvement, and the ability to manage a diverse maintenance workforce.

  • Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (day/night every 6-12 weeks depending on business conditions)

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe work environment, ensuring no harm to people or the environment.
  • Lead safety discussions and job-specific safety reviews with crew members.
  • Manage subordinates to achieve operating results in terms of quantity, quality, timeliness, safety, recovery, and delivery performance.
  • Develop crew members by providing challenging assignments, training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Fairly allocate and assign tasks to crew members based on business criticality and departmental guidelines.
  • Deploy appropriate crewing arrangements for planned and unplanned situations, ensuring operational continuity.
  • Lead a technically capable, customer-oriented, and flexible maintenance workforce that values diversity.
  • Apply root cause analysis and rapid problem-solving techniques to maintain or restore production.
  • Gather and analyze data to support root cause analysis and problem-solving for major exceptions.
  • Manage assets effectively to ensure proper equipment operations, availability, and long-term viability.
  • Advance business objectives by focusing on quality, cost reduction, waste elimination, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Make decisions regarding performance management, including recognition, rewards, and discipline, with appropriate documentation.
  • Develop relationships and influence others to resolve problems, drive change, and ensure customer satisfaction.

Basic Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED) from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on maintenance experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience with direct reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Mechanical background is a plus.
  • Experience working in a union environment is a plus.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles (ABS) for effective business results.
