Job Summary

As the Director of Quality at GoodPop, you'll lead our mission to ensure every customer enjoys a delightful experience, every time they enjoy a GoodPop product.

The Director of Quality will develop, implement, and continuously improve a Quality program to ensure the organization's entire production operations, from raw materials to finished products to consumer experience, meet and exceed the world class Quality standards at GoodPop.

This remote role requires 60% plus travel to visit our co-manufacturing partners to audit, train and ensure compliance of all quality standards. This role will report to our VP of Operations, Katherine Pollard.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Establishment and maintenance of GoodPop's Standards of Quality, contract manufacturer Codes of Conduct, key manufacturing processes and KPIs
  • Standardizing Quality expectations for all SKUs across various contract manufacturing partners
  • Management of operations, including onboarding of new supplier partners, new SKUs, renovations, implementation and maintenance of efficient ways of working, and compliance with product specifications and quality standards
  • Participation of annual pre-planning sessions, monthly operation calls, and quarterly business reviews with co-manufacturers
  • Working cross-functionally with the Innovation Project Team(s) to represent Quality in the commercialization of new products with appropriate co-manufacturers
  • Coordination with Supply Chain team to ensure appropriate storage and handling of all raw materials through the finished product to ensure Quality standards are upheld
  • Putting Quality guardrails in place across the entire supply chain to minimize the chances of common Quality issues
  • Continuous evaluation of operations from a strategic level to ensure that products meet quality, integrity, functionality, and other specifications and requirements.
  • Collaborates with management and senior staff across production departments and roles to draft acceptable quality standards.
  • Develop, improve, implement and continuously review and evaluate quality standard testing and evaluation processes.
  • Design and implement an internal contract manufacturer audit system to ensure compliance, including random inspections and quality control checks.
  • Periodically reports status of quality control and operations to executive leadership and, when required, regulatory agencies.
  • Continuously analyzing available data on quality, consumer complaints, and product trade age to identify potential issues
  • Investigate, identify root cause and mitigate quality complaints and any out-of-standard issues
  • Work with manufacturers to validate results, determine the scope of the issue, identify the cause of the problem, and propose and implement corrective actions
  • Serve as the primary liaison for sales and customer service teams to troubleshoot quality concerns as well as provide guidance on resolution communication.
  • Drive continuous improvement and corrective actions in product quality incidents.
  • Oversee all contract manufacturers Food Safety (GFSI) Programs, all associated Pre-requisite Programs and respective Customer, Federal, State and Local laws and guidelines affecting Food Safety and Quality.
  • Oversee all contract manufacturers allergen programs to ensure compliance.
  • Provide leadership and direction for the QA team, fostering a culture of quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and oversee recall procedures and lead crisis management efforts, ensuring swift and effective resolution of quality or food safety issues

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Minimum of B.S. Degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Professional experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Quality certification including PCQI, Better Process Control, preferred.
  • Experience with quality management systems (QMS) and data analytics tools to monitor and improve quality processes
  • 7+ years experience in quality assurance within a food manufacturing environment, preferably within a mid-sized company and experience working with contract manufacturers. Direct experience in frozen food, ice cream, novelties and aseptic processing is considered a plus.
  • A proactive, entrepreneurial, dynamic, problem solving mentality with a relentless focus on quality and continuous improvement
  • Exceptional and collaborative interpersonal skills to interface with various departments and companies.
  • Has a thorough understanding of formulation, specifications, manufacturing processes and quality assurance and will partner with key internal teams in the areas of Customer Service, R&D & Procurement
  • Expert skills in Excel for data analysis, modeling and visualization
  • Remote position with expectation for a willingness to travel (60%)

Salary: $130000 - $150000 per year
