SUMMARY OF JOB (brief description): We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join Soleno Therapeutics Manager/Senior Manager Government Affairs where you will play a pivotal role establishing and maintaining relationships with government agencies at both the federal and state level and other key stakeholders. You will be responsible for executing strategic initiatives to advocate for policies that support patients with indications that we are targeting with the goal of advancing our mission. This position involves monitoring legislative and regulatory developments, effectively communicating Soleno’s positions on various policy matters, and collaborating with cross functional teams around medical insurance challenges.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor legislative developments and policies related to pediatric rare diseases at the federal and state level with an emphasis on Medicaid coverage and provide in-depth analysis of their potential impact on the company.
  • Carry out advocacy strategies to influence policies that impact pediatric rare disease patients and Soleno in collaboration with government affairs consultants.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key government officials, agencies, and relevant stakeholders to advance Soleno’s mission.
  • Participate as a spokesperson for Soleno on government affairs matters to articulate its positions and influence decision makers.
  • Collaborate with industry associations, advocacy groups, and other key stakeholders to build coalitions and alliances that amplify Soleno’s government affairs efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant lobbying and reporting requirements.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor's degree in political science, public policy, government relations, or a related field is required. A master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in government affairs, lobbying, or a related role, with a strong understanding of the legislative and regulatory process.
  • Experience working in rare diseases.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant policy issues and a demonstrated ability to analyze and communicate complex policy matters.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with government officials, policymakers, advocacy groups, and industry stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly and persuasively communicate the organization's positions to diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to execute effective government affairs strategy.
  • Capability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring flexibility, working independently, and ability to multi-task multiple projects.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize competing demands.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%


Salary Range: $120k - $175k (Actual salary at the time of hire may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant qualifications, skills, and experience, as well as the location where this position may be filled.)
