Description


The Administrative Assistant I (Verification Coordinator) provides administrative support services for one or more individuals, a department or a division. Assists supervisor in routine personnel, budget and other operational details. This individual typically reports to a manager, director or division head.



Responsibilities


  • Reviews appointments scheduled for all locations and all providers to ensure appointments are complete and coverage is active.
  • Review and clear all registration edits in Patient and Charge Review Work queues pre and post visit.
  • Review patient plan benefits and out of pocket responsibility.
  • Contact insurance companies for eligibility and benefits that cannot be verified via RTE in Epic.
  • Verify eligibility and benefits at time of service for TOS changes made by the patient.
  • Verify eligibility and benefits for same day add-on appointments.
  • Update insurance information and ensure coverages are attached to the visit.
  • Attach insurance information if missing from visits.
  • Review if authorization or referrals are required for visits and advise practice to notify patients.
  • Confirm that all patient estimates have been completed.
  • Review if visit reason (if provided) is matched to the correct provider specialty.
  • Review for correct visit type (Follow-up vs Post-op).
  • Verify for out of network benefits if an appointment is made under coverage the provider is non-participating with.
  • Update appointment notes for front desk staff for any issues.
  • Verify Occupational Therapy benefits for same day and upcoming appointments.
  • Correspond with the Access Center regarding issues with appointments created.
  • Verify Workers’ Compensation & No Fault coverage.
  • Update copayment information for each visit.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary.


Qualifications


  • Associates Degree in Secretarial Science or related field, or HS/GED plus two years of related experience (Bachelors Degree preferred).
  • 2-3 years administrative or medical office experience required

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $21.2484 - $35.3061 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
