Business Intelligence Developer (MicroStrategy) (Remote)

The Business Intelligence Developer position requires an individual with proven capacity to create and manage analytics solutions that turn data into knowledge. In this role, you should be analytical, an excellent communicator, have a business acumen and problem-solving aptitude. You will be responsible for working our clients to design, develop, implement, and support our enterprise application Business Intelligence (BI) solutions. Working with cross-functional teams, you will participate in gathering and documenting requirements to meet business needs. Using your skills and experience as report developer, you will design, develop, test, and implement reports and dashboards that utilize the underlying data to deliver reporting products. Candidate must have experience with a BI Platform tool (e.g., MicroStrategy or Tableau or equivalent) and have a basic knowledge of SQL, testing, documenting requirements, be familiar with waterfall and agile methodologies, and have entry level understanding of an RDBMS or of Cloud driven solutions. The candidate should have a strong customer focus, show basic domain knowledge of the retail industry, and be self-driven in this remote position.

Reports To: Sr. Manager, Solution Delivery & Design

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Creates business intelligence reporting that support requirements
  • Works with the business on requirements investigation and development of functional and technical reporting requirements documentation
  • Must be able to create metrics, prompts, filters, subscriptions, and advanced reporting in MicroStrategy
  • Participates in the on-call support rotation
  • Supports senior level team members in tasks as assigned for reporting deliverables
  • Ensures that all reports are developed and delivered timely and accurately
  • Supports customers with data questions or report issues
  • Creates or enhances our knowledge base documentation
  • Provides training to other DSW associates to foster stronger cross-departmental relations

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience with at least one of major BI platforms (MicroStrategy)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic SQL knowledge
  • Prior experience or working knowledge of an RDBMS
  • Base knowledge of project life cycle from inception to production deployment.
  • Multi-task, manage time and priorities and be self-directed while maintaining high degree of organization

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 2+ years of BI tool (MicroStrategy) experience
  • 2+ years of report requirements gathering

Preferred:

  • Experience in other BI tool such as Power BI or Looker a plus
  • Knowledge in inventory and merchandising or supply chain a plus
  • Willing to learn to extend knowledge and skillset in our BI tool

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Business Administration or equivalent work experience considered.
