We are seeking a Director of Accounting to join our team in Dallas, Texas. This role is central in managing all accounting functions related to various properties. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the development of the accounting department in alignment with our growth trajectory.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the management of all accounting functions pertaining to managed properties, including both third-party and owned properties.
- Execute and supervise advanced-level accounting transactions in preparation of client financial statement packages.
- Review and audit funding and payment requests for accuracy, documentation and authorization in accordance with established operating procedures.
- Respond to, and resolve issues and requests from management teams and clients regarding various accounting issues and reports, including Profit and Loss statements.
- Contribute to the creation and review of complex property budgets and forecasting for assigned property portfolios.
- Ensure that all expenses, receipts, owner's distributions, funding requests, and other transactions for the accounting period have been accurately posted.
- Generate and review financial packages for accuracy and comprehensive reporting.
- Participate in new property and client transitions, and client audit requests.
- Oversee the completion of projects including independent preparation and review of CAM (Common Area Maintenance) reconciliations, purchase/sale proration, lease abstract analysis, property software setups, and opening/closing entry generations.
- Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in an accounting leadership role.
- Demonstrated expertise in Commercial Real Estate is necessary.
- Proven experience in Supervisory Management is required.
- Experience in Commercial Property Management is a significant advantage.
- Proficiency in Property Accounting is essential.
- Familiarity with Yardi Voyager is highly desirable.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required, Master's degree is preferred.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team.
- Ability to strategize and solve problems.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
