PYMNTS.com is a U.S.-based company, with a global footprint, that conducts original data-driven research on the digital economy, with a particular focus on payments and commerce, fintech, and emerging payment and commerce technologies including digital wallets, neobanks, crypto currency, etc., We have a diverse set of clients including many of the leading global payment and commerce brands in the world. We are looking for a motivated senior analyst, with experience in economics, statistics, and survey research, to lead research projects. The successful candidate will join a team or more than 30 economists, statisticians, and other social scientists, including senior academics.


Responsibilities:

The candidate will serve as an end-to-end product owner for all aspects of large-scale research projects involving surveys of businesses and/or individuals in multiple geographies. A Senior Analyst’s primary responsibility is crafting surveys to address client research hypotheses and marketing goals, then distil results into unique and actionable insights that are relevant to our clients and readers. The candidate will be responsible for conducting quantitative and qualitative research and supervise a team of 1-3 junior analysts to organize our original quantitative and qualitative data into final deliverables accessible to a wide audience and stakeholders. They are also accountable for ensuring data quality and consistency throughout the writing and publication process. Applicants for this role need to be confident in their ability to craft data into cohesive, easy to digest presentations and narratives, as they will be regularly expected to present key insights to C-suite executives and clients.


Required skills:

The candidate should have at least an MA in economics, or related field, with a specialty or a least substantial coursework in econometrics and statistics. At least three years of practical experience in designing and executing quantitative research is a must and experience with conducting large-scale consumer surveys a plus. Expert level understanding of descriptive statistics, variable operationalization, and basic regression analysis is also preferred. The candidate should also have a deep understanding of data visualization and visualization practices as well as the analytic ability to distill important data from superfluous or noisy findings. Ability to tell a complex story simply, grouping insights into outlined stories for reports and other projects. Excellent written and spoken English, and the ability to write clearly, is also a must. The candidate should also be fluent in statistical software such as STATA, python, or R as well as Excel Skills using SQL or other programming languages and data visualization tools such as Tableau are a plus as is experience with survey research platforms such as Qualtrics. Finally, the candidate needs to be self-directed, intellectually curious and be able to work both independently and in collaboration with our remote analytics and writing.
