As a People Advisor you will act as a primary point of contact for team members on matters of employee relations and a variety of people related issues. You will play a crucial role in fostering a positive and collaborative work environment by providing expert guidance on employee relations matters, handling team member concerns, addressing workplace conflicts, and assisting with implementation strategies to enhance team member engagement and satisfaction.

Outcomes and Activities:

  • This position will work from home; occasional planned travel to an assigned Southfield, Michigan office location may be required. However, this position is permitted to work at a Southfield, Michigan office location if requested by the team member.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, providing guidance and support to team members and leadership regarding workplace policies, procedures, and conflict resolution.
  • Provide guidance and support to People Leaders in handling team member performance issues, including coaching, counseling, and performance improvement plans.
  • Maintain accurate records in compliance with company procedures and recommend actions to be taken, documenting interactions in the case management tool.
  • Ability to counsel and advise leadership through sensitive HR issues to resolve conflict and seek workable solutions.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution between team members or between team members and leadership.
  • Ensures consistent employee relations approach and policy application across the organization, identifying and minimizing risk by ensuring decisions regarding employment matters are compliant with internal policies, past practices, and applicable laws & regulations.
  • Partner with the Leave of Absence team to discuss leave and accommodation related issues.
  • Coordinate the termination and exit interview processes, as applicable.
  • Participate in the review and analysis of human resource processes and procedures, making recommendations for process improvements and systems enhancements.


Knowledge and Skills:

  • Communicate effectively with all leadership levels, build and maintain strong business relationships.

  • Critical thinking and negotiation skills to influence without authority.
  • Ability to problem solve both independently and within a team.
  • Ability to see patterns from individual issues that can be turned into systemic programs.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage simultaneous assignments with potentially conflicting priorities and deadlines.


Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience in providing employee relations advice, preferably in a corporate or call center environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business, HR or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable Federal & State laws, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Experience working with both an Exempt and Non-Exempt workforce.
  • Strong knowledge of HR programs, policies and processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced work environment.


Preferred:

  • Experience using Workday.
  • Experience working in and supporting a culture-focused work environment.
  • Knowledge of Credit Acceptance products and markets.
  • Understanding of the financial industry.


Targeted Compensation: $75,000 - $87,000 base salary + an annual bonus plan.

This position is not currently open to individuals who require sponsorship now or in the future to work legally for Credit Acceptance, such as H-1b/ H-4 or F-1 OPT visa holders.
