Software Engineering Manager

About us Topaz Labs is a full-stack AI company that develops, trains, and deploys generative AI models for image and video enhancement. We’re the best in the world at improving image and video quality, and produce several award-winning desktop products that millions of people rely on. Image and video creation has exploded in the past few years and we’ve grown with it, but we still only process a tiny fraction of the world’s content. We’re building an elite team dedicated to bringing our technology to every image and video that needs it. We execute quickly, obsess about the customer experience, and promote from within. About the role This role will report to the CEO, and will lead a team of 7+ software engineers that build and support our Gigapixel and Photo AI products. We ship new versions of each product every two weeks, and as our Engineering Manager you'll partner with our research, design, and product teams ensure our applications are better with each release. You'll also train, mentor, and lead a team of amazing engineers on best practices, ensure high quality standards are met, and be a key part of the leadership team at Topaz Labs. About you

• At least 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, and at least 2+ years of direct people leadership
• You've previously grown an engineering team from 0-5 to 10+
• You think from first principles and focus on the core issues, with an excellent grasp of software development principles and best practices
• You are still hands-on programming and have previously built customer-facing software
• You have a good sense of user experience and product design
• Strongly preferred: experience as a technical founder or early engineer in a fast-paced tech startup
• Strongly preferred: photography / videography interest and experience
