Director of Medical Affairs Job Description


This individual will require an understanding of the scope of Medical Affairs activities as well as excellent organizational and project management skills. The position will deliver by building strong relationships with key partners in a highly matrixed team environment. This role is responsible for providing medical and scientific expertise on the product, including its mechanism of action, safety profile, and clinical efficacy. They serve as a bridge between the company and healthcare professionals. This role will be leading a team of Medical Communication, Medical Information, and Medical/Scientific Liaison and report to Chief Medical Officer or Medical Director.  



Key Responsibilities:

·   The position will deliver by building strong relationships with key partners in a highly matrixed team environment.

·   This role is accountable for managing operational responsibilities i.e., plan, build, launch, implement, and maintain by continuous refinement of medical capabilities in alignment with department strategy, vision, goals, and objectives.

·   Support Marketing strategy with Medical Insight and information: Medical Affairs professionals develop medical strategies to support the launch and commercialization of the new product. This may include developing scientific communication plans, medical education programs, and supporting clinical trials.

·   KOL engagement: Medical Affairs professionals engage with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in the field of aesthetic medicine to gather insights, engage in lectures and clinical studies, seek endorsements, and establish relationships for future collaborations.

·   Medical education: Medical Affairs professionals develop and deliver medical education programs for healthcare professionals to ensure they have a thorough understanding of the product and its applications in clinical practice.

·  Regulatory compliance: Medical Affairs professionals ensure that all medical communications and activities comply with regulatory requirements and guidelines.

·  PRC Review & OP/DP: Engage, lead, and execute FDA’s requirement on prescription drug advertising and promotional labeling to ensure that the information contained in these materials is not false or misleading.

·  Medical information: Medical Affairs professionals provide medical information and support to healthcare professionals, patients, and internal stakeholders.

·  Post-market surveillance & Pharmacovigilance: Medical Affairs professionals monitor the safety and efficacy of the product post-launch, collect and analyze real-world data, and communicate any emerging safety concerns to relevant stakeholders.

·  The Medical Affairs department plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful launch and ongoing support of the new Botulinum toxin type A for Aesthetic product by providing medical and scientific expertise, developing medical strategies, engaging with KOLs, providing medical education, ensuring regulatory compliance, and monitoring post-market surveillance.

 

Qualifications:

·     Bachelor’s degree in the life sciences or in a related field; an advanced degree (e.g., MS, PharmD, or PhD) is preferred.

·     3-5 years professional experience supporting Projects/Activities within the Pharmaceutical Industry, or similar relevant experience.

·      Strong understanding of Medical Affairs function and processes with 2-3 years of experience within Medical Affairs preferred.

·      Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), and the ability to effectively utilize proprietary software and exceptional writing, editing and proofreading and analytical skills.

·        Excellent ability to prioritize, organize, and manage multiple competing assignments and responsibilities. Project management experience preferred.

·        Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in a team environment.

·        Ability to develop and maintain a good working relationship with internal and external customers.

·        High-level of personal and professional integrity and ethics.
