The Senior Director of Human Resources (SDHR) provides operational oversight of HR. This individual is focused on ensuring their team delivers a customer-centered HR experience while executing on workflows, compliance, and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPI’s) that support the full life cycle of an employee. Some areas of functional oversight include but are not limited to recruiting and onboarding; benefits; employee relations; wellness and retention; compensation; compliance; investigation; individual employee performance improvement plans; mediation; and offboarding.

The SDHR is a member of the Everstand’s Senior Leadership Team and reports directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO). Their ability to lead operations, analyze trends and data, and support annual priorities within the HR team and across the wider organization, are both critically important for Everstand's to achieve its charitable purpose of enriching communities, one family at a time.

Do I need any prior experience?

Required Education And Experience

  • Bachelors of Arts degree in related field from an accredited college or university.
  • 7-10 years of Human Resources experience, with a minimum of 5 years of experience as Human Resource leader.

Preferred Education And Experience

  • A master’s degree in related field from an accredited college or university and four years’ experience in the field.
  • Experience in similar setting.
  • PHR or SPHR and/or SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP designation attained or working towards one of these designations

What does the Senior HR Director do specifically?

  • Model and act in accordance with Everstand’s core values: safety, empathy, relationships, and impact.

  • Demonstrate and practice trauma informed leadership.
  • In partnership with the CHRO, create annual priorities, projects, and key performance indicators for the HR team that support Everstand’s corporate strategic plan.
  • Maintain up to date project plans that support HR’s strategic goals.
  • Facilitate weekly guidance/supervision meetings with team members.
  • Train and/or oversee training needs for HR department.
  • Collaborate with Director of Quality Improvement as needed.
  • Annually update the human resources policies and procedure manual as well as an annual employee handbook that are both compliant with legal requirements, accreditation standards, and contractual obligations.
  • Consult with managers regarding the legalities and protocols for personnel actions to ensure consistent and equitable HR actions.
  • Advise management team as needed and approve employee performance improvement plans.
  • Manage the Performance Management process, ensuring evaluations are completed in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the supervision and coordination of all employee benefit administration by working closely with an external broker, as well as internal members of both the finance and HR teams.
  • Participate on Everstand’s internal Risk Management, Safety, and Quality Improvement Committee (RSQ) at Everstand
  • Ensure completion of compliance reports such as, but not limited to, the annual EEO-1 and ACA reports.
  • Oversee the management and effective usage of the human resources information system (HRIS).
  • Oversight of recruitment and onboarding for Everstand.
  • Provide the executive team up to date hiring and onboarding KPI’s.
  • Ensure that employee grievances and concerns are being logged as well as fairly and consistently processed in a timely fashion through to their resolution.

How big is the HR team at Everstand?

The SDHR oversees all the HR Generalists (HRG's) based in Baltimore (5) and an HR manager based in WV (who oversees the HRG located in PA and WV respectively). Finalists for this position will be given full organizational charts and other helpful departmental and organizational information prior to their final interview. The talent acquisition team reports to the CHRO.

Where is this job based? Is this an in-person position?

This is a full-time, in-person position. This role is based out of our Baltimore headquarters (where most other members of the HR and the CHRO are based). Travel between all Everstand sites is expected on a somewhat frequent basis.

Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Everstand has a flex schedule policy that may allow this role to shift the start time a little earlier or later in the day. Everstand has a telework policy that allows up to one day a week of remote work, with flexibility for life's unpredictable moments and weather. If you have specific scheduling needs they can be discussed with our recruitment team or with the CHRO during the interview process.
