We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Director of Human Resources to lead and enhance our HR functions in alignment with the business objectives set by our Chief Executive Officer and Management Committee. This role is pivotal in shaping our workplace culture, driving employee engagement, and ensuring compliance with California labor laws. Key Responsibilities:

Talent Acquisition & Retention:

  • Lead recruitment efforts across our office locations in Van Nuys, Thousand Oaks, Valencia, and Bakersfield.
  • Collaborate with the recruiting manager to assess staffing needs and implement effective hiring strategies.

Benefits Administration:

  • Oversee the administration of comprehensive employee benefits, including medical, dental, 401k, vision, life insurance, and LTD.
  • Work directly with the CEO and other stakeholders on broker selection and benefits optimization.

Compensation Strategy:

  • Regularly review and analyze wage and salary data within the LA metropolitan area to ensure competitive compensation.
  • Partner with departmental managers to maintain internal equity and reward performance.

HR Policy Development:

  • Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures in compliance with California labor laws and federal regulations.
  • Ensure consistent application of policies across all levels of the organization.

Employee Relations & Development:

  • Champion retention strategies aimed at reducing turnover and enhancing employee satisfaction.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to management on employee relations, mentoring, and talent development.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Represent the company in dealings with local and state agencies regarding unemployment, worker’s compensation, and other claims.
  • Oversee OSHA compliance and lead the Safety Committee to ensure a safe workplace.

Leave Management:

  • Manage FMLA and other leave policies in accordance with federal and state laws, ensuring fair and legal treatment of all employees.

Performance Management:

  • Review and approve disciplinary actions to ensure legal compliance and fairness.
  • Evaluate termination decisions based on a thorough review of the situation and documentation.

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Directly manage, mentor, and develop the HR team, fostering a culture of mutual respect, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide actionable feedback to drive team success.

Culture & Values:

  • Act as a role model in promoting a culture of respect, courtesy, and personal accountability within the organization.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Take on other duties as assigned to support the organization’s HR needs and business objectives.


Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or a minimum of 7 years of progressive HR experience.
  • Proven track record in a similar HR leadership role, preferably within a multi-location environment.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and data.
  • Experience in developing and implementing HR strategies that align with business goals.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

Language & Communication:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information to diverse audiences.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation, including sitting, standing, and lifting objects up to 10 lbs.
