Patient Access Services Supervisor - Children's and Women's Hospital

Responsibilities

Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization's values; adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality; assists with the orientation of new employees; utilizes proper body mechanics when moving equipment and/or supplies necessary to preform essential functions; reports broken or malfunctioning equipment to management; prepares work schedules maintaining adequate staffing coverage 24 hours a day; supervises all admitting staff and coordinates admitting/registration functions in admitting, outpatient areas and the ER; preforms training of all new employees; initiates counseling with employees for positive and negative performance, documenting progressive disciplinary actions; oversees the policy and procedure process for the department, initiating, implementing and monitoring all policies and procedures; assists in the interview process for prospective admitting clerks; assists management in annual evaluation process and special projects; covers in absence of Assistant Admitting Manager; accepts reservations, obtaining social, financial, and personal data by personal interview or by telephone; inputs accurate patient information into IS system and follows up for missing data; obtains copies of insurance and patient ID cards; completes all admissions/registration,legal, financial and medical forms and obtains required signatures; distributes and explains state and federally mandated information to patients; follows established downtime procedures; accepts patient's valuables; collects and receipts monies; performs general clerical duties including answering phones and maintains files; performs duties using a personal computer and applicable software; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and three years experience in a medical office setting. Hospital admitting experience is preferred.
