About The Role

The Jr. Copywriter will be responsible for creating thoughtful and engaging copy to help advertise our products and inform our customers and will develop print and digital content that showcases the products and services of the Company. This job involves writing product descriptions, brochures, sales emails, etc.… to engage our customers to have a positive and informative experience. Daily responsibilities will include writing product descriptions and collaborating with the content team on new product launches & marketing campaigns.

Essential Functions

  • Familiarize with each organization's brand ideals and website to create content that supports their objectives and desired identity
  • Write clear and compelling copy to describe products and explain their benefits to our target audience
  • Use SEO best practices to generate traffic to the Company websites and maximize the online visibility of a website in search results
  • Develop related content for multiple platforms, such as websites, email marketing, product descriptions, videos, and blogs
  • Stay updated on industry trends and adjust the product descriptions as necessary
  • Collaborate with brand & product manager on product descriptions, product launches, campaigns, and other product & campaign initiatives to create innovative content ideas.
  • Cooperate with the marketing team to create compelling copy for web product descriptions, sell sheets, blogs, post cards, video scripts, and other written content created to help inform customer and sell products
  • Maintain timeline for deliverables when new product is received and ensure new product listings are completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Utilize target keywords to write copy that is optimized for search engines (SEO) while remaining entertaining and informative
  • Stay abreast of current best practices in the industry and review competitor websites to compare their activities with those of the Company
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with other departments to create innovative content ideas
  • Produce well-researched content for publication online and in print
  • Organize writing schedules to complete drafts of content or finished projects within deadlines

Skills

  • Proven record of excellent writing demonstrated in a professional portfolio
  • Proficient in the English language, to include idioms, current trends in slang and expressions
  • Ability to work independently on an assignment, and collaboratively as member of a team
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with different objectives simultaneously
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, active listener
  • Ability to conceive fresh and appealing ideas for new content
  • Ability to create original content that targets a specific audience
  • Ability to multitask and take on multiple assignments
  • Comfortable and experienced in working with data and spreadsheets
  • Expertise in SEO best practices to write creative copy
  • Experience with social media engagement strategies and best practices
  • Technical knowledge of MS Office, Drupal, and eCommerce sites including Shopify & Magento

Qualifications And Education Requirements

  • Associates degree or two years of vocational school required; Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, Communications or a related field preferred
  • 1-2 years of hands-on product writing or copywriting
  • Portfolio of published copy examples
  • Proven record of creating effective content for specific audiences and meeting deadlines
  • Adept at SEO best practices, content marketing tactics and keyword selection
  • Proficiency with multiple content management systems and analytics software
  • Demonstrated ability to lead content marketing campaigns
  • Strong Google Analytics, WordPress/Drupal and Adobe Acrobat/Illustrator skills
