X-energy is seeking professionals to join our Engineering team in the role of Manager, Systems Engineering. This position manages the Systems Engineering group and is responsible for working with engineering leadership to develop and maintain systems engineering processes to support the design, integration, and management of complex systems throughout their lifecycles. This includes directing the work of individual contributors on the team, managing the resource and organizational needs of the engineering team, and assisting with the analysis of systems, structures, and components for various advanced reactor technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the execution of rigorous, repeatable Industrial and Systems Engineering processes to support the design, integration, and management of complex systems throughout their lifecycles of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program / project requirements.
  • Manages the utilization of engineering resources across multiple projects and ensures qualified engineers are performing assigned work.
  • Manage design cycle sprints and provide direction to ensure the convergence of efforts of engineering team members, partners, and suppliers to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality engineering work products are on schedule and within budget as defined by the Project leadership.
  • Manages systems engineering staff by ensuring they are meeting expectations and promoting their professional development.
  • Influences the development of strategy, methodology and technical tools for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and policy formulation.
  • Interprets internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, tools, or services.
  • Uses high level of judgement to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operations, product management, technology, or engineering
  • Assesses quality of information given and asks pertinent questions to stakeholders
  • Offers new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and can construct and provide recommendations
  • Work within a multidisciplinary engineering team to create the next generation nuclear reactor technologies
  • Perform work in accordance with design control procedures, ensuring thorough documentation of work, facilitation of internal and external design reviews, and control of product design configuration data
  • Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager

Minimum Education/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an ABET accredited university or college.
  • Typically, ten plus years of professional experience in engineering after completion of undergraduate study. Graduate degrees typically count as two plus years of experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leading successful technical teams with a track record for effective problem solving and delivery of engineering work products.
  • Experience estimating time and resources needed to execute engineering activities.
  • Requires specialized knowledge within the function of systems engineering, including in-depth experience in at least one of the following areas: System Lifecycle Processes (ISO 15288); Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Tools and Methods as well as Product Lifecycle Management Systems (e.g. Teamcenter PLM, Cameo, Capella, Genesys, SysML, and DOORS); Operations Research and Data Analytics; and Production and Logistics.

Travel Expectations: 10%

Job Classification: Fulltime Exempt

Hours: 8:00am ET to 5:00pm ET, Monday - Friday
