The Senior Vice President of Finance has direct reporting to the Chief Financial Officer. The SVP of Finance has responsibility for leading and managing the Credit Union’s Finance and Treasury functions. The SVP of Finance prepares, presents, and interprets financial reports to management, ALM Committee and Board of Directors. This position advises management on budgeting, Asset Liability Management Risks and Strategies, and profitability of products and business lines. The SVP of Finance develops and prescribes adequate financial procedures to provide the basis for budget management and forecasting.


RESPONSIBLE AND ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

  • Develop and implement strategic financial plans aligned with the credit union’s objectives, ensuring long-term financial stability and growth.
  • Oversee risk assessment and management processes to safeguard the credit union’s financial assets and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide strategic direction and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional rapport.
  • Drive the annual budgeting process and monthly forecasting platform to support effective decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Lead the preparation and analysis of internal financial reports, providing timely and accurate insights to executive management and the board of directors.
  • Lead management of liquidity, investment, and funding strategies to optimize returns while maintaining prudent risk levels.
  • Execute liquidity strategies and oversee liquidity management reporting.
  • Partners with the CFO in the effective management of the investment and derivatives function of the Credit Union. Drives organizational and product profitability functions and reporting.
  • Produces and analyzes reports on product performance and profitability, delinquency/charge-off, critical ratios, financial forecasts, investment activity, spread management, peer analysis and ALM-related reports
  • Utilizes ALM analytical tools and tactics including margin/spread maintenance, rate/risk analysis of earning assets and interest-bearing deposits and funding. Partners with CFO to ensure Balance Sheet structured for growth.
  • Accurately measures and monitors the Credit Union’s financial risks and performance.
  • Represents the Finance Team in various organizational projects and implementations.
  • Ensures compliance with financial regulations and collaborates with internal and external auditors to uphold the highest standards of financial governance.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and successfully meet deadlines.
  • Strong understanding of the budgeting process, forecasting and application of asset and liability management techniques.
  • Ability to analyze and report branch and product profitability for the Credit Union.
  • Capable of managing and analyzing cost centers.
  • Ability to calculate and analyze financial ratios and drivers of financial performance.
  • Proven ability to work in a sales environment focused on complex financial products and services.
  • Experience with process automation, data analytics, Axiom, Bloomberg, and PowerBI a plus.
  • Work assignments require considerable judgment regarding the interpretation of policies, development of procedures, and selection of appropriate courses of action.
  • Demonstrated capabilities to partner and influence at the Senior Executive level.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree. CPA, MBA or CFA a plus.
  • Experience: Approximately 10+ years in a strategic Finance and/or Treasury role.
