We are looking for a Nationwide Director of Community Engagement, who will support a dynamic fundraising team across the country to achieve ambitious revenue goals while fostering meaningful connections with diverse communities. This role requires a visionary leader with a strategic mindset, a deep understanding of nonprofit fundraising, and the ability to cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
This position is remote, but individual must reside with close proximity to a nearby airport.
Primary Responsibilities
Staff Leadership and Development:
- Oversee independent community engagement staff in designated markets, specifically Boston and Atlanta, with the objective to prepare these markets for expansion, including the potential addition of an in-market Executive Director.
- Director will have revenue accountability for these markets, with a personal goal responsibility as well.
- Act as interim Executive Director during vacancies, ensuring continuity for area staff, revenue portfolios, and key stakeholders.
- Director will be responsible for maintaining this revenue with fundraising staff in the market.
- Support performance metrics and accountability measures to drive the achievement of strategic objectives and revenue targets with a specific focus on Summit Series markets
- Create a supportive and inclusive work environment where all team members feel valued and can thrive.
- Build and maintain relationships with staff, business and community leaders, philanthropic individuals, and families across North America with a specific focus on Summit Series markets.
- Play a prominent role in representing Autism Speaks at events and meetings with high-profile donors and prospects.
- Lead the implementation and support of the Autism Speaks Summit Series alongside strategy and operations colleagues to engage and grow community presence, donor relationships and revenue generation
- Conduct analysis and assessments of potential markets for Summit Series expansion to identify engagement levels, donor base strength, community stakeholders and philanthropic activity
- Develop a detailed market-specific action plan to ensure successful implementation of a new Summit
- Support the training and integration of national resources and tools to enhance local Summit Series events
- Facilitate communication and coordination between local market teams and the national strategy team and VP, Community Engagement
- Monitor progress and provide ongoing analysis of fundraising activities to identify areas for improvement and growth
Position Requirements
Education / Experience:
- BA degree
- 5+ years of experience in a fundraising management/leadership role
- 7-10 years of community engagement experience
- 7-10 years of multi-functional, fundraising experience (special events, multiple walk and/or endurance events, corporate campaigns.)
- Proven track record in leading successful growth expansions in community/field fundraising
- Strong skills and abilities to recruit and hire and retain talented, energetic fundraising team leads.
- Understanding of constituent relationship building and strategic donor development
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to influence and inspire, with an understanding and respect for Autism Speaks culture.
- Understanding of working in a field based, non-profit corporate structure.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, and ability to travel.
- Self-starter who takes initiative and is pro-active in identifying opportunities.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal and customer relations skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; troubleshooting and problem-solving capability; detail oriented.
- Superior oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.

Salary range is $87,800-$109k depending on candidate's relevant years of experience and geographic location.
