The Big Ass Operations Manager is responsible for providing overall management and supervision of the production and logistics departments in our BRAND NEW, lean manufacturing, packaging, and warehouse facility. Using strategic methodology, this position is responsible for the systematic and profitable operation of production and logistics in our BAF Texas facility. Promoting an environment of positive employee relations, this is a hands-on role with the ability to plan and coordinate all plant operations - involving production, engineering, planning, continuous improvement and quality - while leading and affecting positive change.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a strong safety culture within the facility to ensure the well-being of all BAFers and maintain a productive work environment.
  • Establish and monitor day-to-day operations processes, ensuring product quality and financial goals are achieved while providing leadership, focus, and direction to the larger team.
  • Ensure all operations processes comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and customer-specific quality expectations.
  • Build an even flow of work through all manufacturing functions to meet production goals and minimize unscheduled downtime.
  • Utilize customer feedback to drive continuous improvement and innovation in manufacturing processes.
  • Establish measurable KPIs and provide routine feedback of the departments as to the performance to the agreed-upon KPIs.
  • Demonstrates commitment to teamwork by establishing effective relationships and collaborating cross-functionally to accomplish shared purposes and goals.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure the production schedule is reviewed on a routine basis and work with the planner to optimize the schedule.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of manufacturing processes; collaborate cross-functionally to align manufacturing capabilities with customer requirements.
  • Coordinate staff training and development by identifying and assisting employees with setting and attaining professional goals.
  • Oversees and participates in the recruitment, hiring, and training of operations associates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering, or related technical field preferred
  • 8+ years of experience in operations manufacturing management in a related industry, or a combination of education and experience that is likely to provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the job
  • Understanding and exposure to manufacturing and supply chain concepts with experience in S&OP, inventory, or physical flow management
  • Proactive, strategic thinker with a record of contributing to the systematic and profitable operation of production operations
  • Able to utilize exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, along with strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Working knowledge of computer systems; including experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite, as well as experience with manufacturing systems, including ERP software
  • Ability to manage, motivate, and lead a diverse workforce to achieve objectives
  • Knowledge and implementation of lean processes in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to establish priorities and meet expectations with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple projects and/or requests concurrently
  • Comfortable with occasional travel, up to 20%
