Reports To: SVP/General Manager of Big Tex Trailer World

Job Overview

ATW is the leader in North American in Professional Grade Trailer manufacturing and sales. Big Tex Trailer World is ATW’s industry leading retail operation. Our chain is comprised of more than 75 company owned dealerships across the United States retailing a wide variety of trailers, truck beds, replacement and repair parts and accessories. The Director of Merchandising is responsible for all aspects of the merchandising process including assortment determination purchasing, pricing, carrying levels, replenishment, and in-store promotion. This role oversees the creating and coordinating all product assortments, plan-o-grams, new product launches, and product lifecycle management, in partnership with the Regional Managers, Sales, and New Store Implementation Teams.

Job Responsibilities

• Overseeing the planning and implementation of merchandising strategies.
• Deliver excellence in merchandising and purchasing activities including – building vendor relationships, negotiations, optimizing just-in-time product flow, and inventory management.
• Develops pricing strategies across all categories, working with pricing group in monitoring and adjusting to maximize outcomes
• Leads and develops merchandising team including hiring, selecting, retaining, and performance management.
• Preparing monthly and weekly business reviews, evaluating trends through data analysis and developing proposals to meet goals and sales targets.
• Tracking inventory movement and systematically introducing promotions, sales, price changes, etc.
• Identifying trends and monitoring supply and demand.
• Interpreting sales reports and providing guidance on how to improve results, drive business decisions, and support customer engagement.
• Develops location specific assortment strategies.
• Develops and implements plan-o-grams and in-store displays
• Support and promote strong, long-lasting relationships by partnering with sales and store leadership to identify and market their needs.
• Assures the correct In-Stock position on trailers, truck-beds and parts.
• Optimize parts plan-o-grams and assortments by analyzing inventory turns, vendor performance and pipeline of current assortment.
• Updating existing stores with new plan-o-grams (Refresh Program)
• Assist Real-estate team with NEW STORE setup process, reporting and completion pertaining to plan- o-grams, signage, parts, and vendor partnerships.
• Update and maintain business relevant reporting with an emphasis on consumer trend analysis, market pricing movement, and identifying growth opportunities.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Professional Qualifications

• 7+ years of retail category management or trailer industry experience
• 2+ years pricing experience within consumer product industry
• Strong analytical abilities, with experience in IMS and enterprise data systems and analytical tools (Power BI, MS Excel, Take Stock, MS Dynamics)
• Demonstrated strong business judgment and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and verbal skills, including ability to succinctly communicate complex issues, root causes and solution options.
• Experience in vendor relations and negotiation
• High energy and an approach that thrives in a fast-paced, highly dynamic environment.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, ability to develop and maintain relationships with business partners across several business matrices.
• Strong collaborative skills
• Effectively prioritize workload and the management of multiple projects in a fast paced, frequently changing environment while remaining detailed and organized.
• Extensive knowledge of merchandising in a retail environment
