Sr. Materials Buyer

Ayar Labs is pioneering the next generation of optical interconnect technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials critical to our operations, ensuring the highest quality, cost-efficiency, and timely delivery. This role demands a deep understanding of the electrical and optical industry, including suppliers, market trends, and technological advancements.

Essential Functions:Manage supply chain for optical / laser components

• Work with Product Management & Engineering design team on New Product Introduction (NPI) support
• Partner and maintain relationships with reliable outside vendors and suppliers to manage purchase order based on demand
• Plan and execute purchasing against MRP feeds and ensure flow of materials for ongoing production as well as for new products in development
• Manage entire cycle of requisition and purchase order process as well as ensuring vendors order acknowledgements
• Maintain computerized purchasing records and paper filing
• Monitor progress against plan through regular reporting for on-time delivery, warehouse and assembly productivity, backlog, inventory accuracy, vendor performance
• Plan, Monitor and report on inventory levels based on customer requirements and company target levels; ensures adequate planning and forecasting to maintain supply chain stability
• Obtain and negotiate competitive quotation and analyze the vendor quotation based upon product specification
• Manage Long lead time & unique components
• Place order and follow up closely with counterpart manufacturing partners to achieve sales demand and fulfillment
• Monitor and follow up closely with manufacturing partner production schedules to ensure on-time delivery and monitor it for prototype projects
  
  
  

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years materials management, procurement and supply chain experience
• Proficient in PLM & ERP applications and Microsoft Office programs such as Arena, NetSuite, Oracle, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Regular in-office attendance is required
  
  
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM) is a plus
• Experience in hardware design or component selection/evaluation strongly desired
• Asia supply base experience and language skills a plus
• Semiconductor, PCBA related components, optical transceivers background is a plus.
  
  
  

Pay Range is $131K to $160K
